Just to clarify, and I believe this is correct with the less than or equal to signification of the cutoff scores - if your score is at the cutoff, does that mean you do get semi-finalist status? Or does your score have to be above the cutoff?

Midwestdad, my S and friends were asked to the principal’s office this morning for congrats and the lowest one in the group was 211. The cutoff could be lower but I can’t confirm that.

Thanks Krug- 213 so we are good to go!

My understanding is that your score needs to be at the cutoff, and not over it.

^The higher the score the better, so “over it” is what you are looking for. Krug wrote that his S’s friend had a 211 and made it, so anyone at 211 or higher (in Krug’s state) is a NMSF.

Yes, your score needs to be “at” the cutoff or over…

So, if the cutoff for your state is 215 and you have a 215, then you’re good to go!

We live in Georgia. My daughter had a 215. I haven’t seen the actual packet since my daughter had to leave school early, but she was told to go to a meeting with the headmaster this afternoon (but couldn’t) & when I called later to inquire why, I was told by the headmaster’s office that she had made national merit semi-finalist. Not sure what the actual cut-off is though.
