Things are very quiet here in Connecticut…anyone heard in CT?

219 in Indiana

We are from Michigan and my son is a semi-finalist with a 224.

mariepuff, did you get a packet in illinois yesterday? I know leapinglizard reported receiving notification last Thu or Fri, but nothing came out at my D’s school even yesterday. Hmmm…

momofsongbird, nothing yet. ((One of the other posts suggested that National Merit send a letter home to the student advising them of NMSF status, and to look out for something from their high schools. I think it is a great idea, and wish National Merit would implement. I cannot get over that my D and I are in suspense on a test/score that is hers, and not the school’s.))

Though leapinlizards post was reassuring, I won’t believe it until I see it officially! so more nerve wracking wait! (D has a 218) Good luck and please let me know when you hear something, and I will do the same.

Anyone from PA?? Anyone at all???

What about NEW JERSEY? Dying to know with a 220!

What’s going on with CA? D is still waiting with a 223.

BTW. Anyone have information about the National Achievement competition? Do those packets generally come out at the same time as National Merit?

^^^You’re definitely safe with a 223! It’s those of us sitting here in CA with a 217 who are agonizing! :-)

Yes…a 223 in Calif is safe…it’s actually safe in any state. 223 has been the highest cutoff in any state at any time in recent years.

A 217 in Calif is probably not going to make it. Rumor is that Calif cutoff is 218 this year. Heard that from my SIL who’s a high school teacher in Calif.

I hope you’re right about the 223. But, I’ll keep my fingers crossed for those 217 and 218 CA kids as well.

mariepuff, I’m very confident your D and mine are safe with the 218 and 220. But I agree with you…I won’t believe it until I have the letter in front of me. I, too, feel the notification should come straight to the student at home, with packet info and whatever going on to the school. (But, so far, no one from NMSC has called to ask my advice!)

Just ate 2 squares of chocolate, and thinking about the Edy’s chocolate-chip in the freezer (and I am not a snacker)…90 mins til school is out. Stay in touch.

Fingers crossed in solidarity with you Cal folks sitting on 217s. Best of luck!

MS cutoff 205

Also waiting here in New York with a 220. Our child’s school doesn’t start until 9/13!
So I won’t know for a couple of weeks unless someone from somewhere else in New York State hears.
Best to all of you.

Frida,

I suggest you call/email your child’s guidance counselor and ask.

The National Merit Office rep said the announcements would be mailed “in the next two weeks” to schools. Sounds like some of you got the answer that they’d already been mailed out (8/24.) Our son#1 was a finalist last year, and son #2 expects/hopes to be this year as well. Anyone heard anything about this year’s notification?

Anybody know what the cutoff is in Wisconsin? It’s been 208-210 recently–makes me thankful we don’t live in California!
