Has anyone sent a LOCI to their admission counselor? I was about to send one but I see this on the portal, so I’m not sure whether I should do so.
during the presentation for waitlisted students, the dean said that sending a LOCI to your admissions counselor is okay but not necessary. idk how much of a difference it makes tho.
Tons… but honestly, we have seen everything of interest available. I really don’t know what else to do. We have a physical tour scheduled for Friday, but I am concerned about my work commitment and I am struggling if it is worth it, since we will need a hotel room and a rental car.
Yes at this point I have also seen everything of interest including the webinars from before decisions came out and some that they are offering now. I will not be able to tour campus as I live 7 hours away and it is tough to go unless actually offered admission. Just have to wait at this point.
On Sunday we drove the 7 hours to Cleveland from NYC, walked around a bit that evening. Went to sleep, woke up Monday for a 9 am 45-minute tour, and then drove the 7 hours home! It’s a beautiful campus and my son loved it, so hoping he gets off waitlist but didn’t get to see inside any buildings or see the Sears Thinkspace. I’m still glad we did it, but it was a lot of effort and not a tremendous amount in return.
We went ahead and canceled. I am in a middle of a big project at work, the time driving, gas, food, hotel, etc… She has ballet rehearsals on the weekend and Prom Saturday. We just can’t take the time nor spend the money on something that may not happen. If she was accepted, that is another thing, but she has not been up until now.
Has anyone heard from the waitlist yet?
Do we know about how many people are on the waitlist this year?
Sounds like the right decision. If my son doesn’t get in, those will be 2 wasted days of driving!
I think Case knows that not everyone can visit.
At this point, Case, like others colleges, wants to preserve the “yield” (number of students offered admission that will actually attend).
So they want to know if they offer admission you would attend at this point.
They will tell you what your scholarships would be and may even ask if you would attend if offered admission…so if the answer is no they won’t offer it to you. This won’t be the time that you can weigh multiple offers… you kind of need to do that now…figure out where you (child) would go based on existing admittances and what would it take for you to want to go to Case if offered.
Yes it is kind of sucky to not know if you are admitted before you visit… but that is the general suckiness of Waitlists.
Any one got off the CWRU waitlist so far?
nope not yet. i shouldn’t be comparing, but last year, they started handing out decisions on April 22nd which is today… I’m not sure though if that’s the case for this year. I really hope I get off the waitlist, i drove 7 hours myself from Philly to Case to tour. Just hope they admit soon before the deadline to commit.
We live a few hours south of you plan on driving this weekend. What was your impression of campus? Was it worth the time to drive?
On Sunday we drove the 7 hours to Cleveland from NYC, walked around a bit that evening. Went to sleep, woke up Monday for a 9 am 45-minute tour, and then drove the 7 hours home! It’s a beautiful campus and my son loved it, so hoping he gets off waitlist but only saw inside Management building and the hallway to another building. We didn’t see the Sears Thinkspace. So, we didn’t get any feel for the academic aspect of the school. However, I’m still glad we did it, but it was a lot of effort and not a tremendous amount in return.
That’s what I was worried about… we are from Delaware and it is quite a drive. My son was accepted and CWRU is one of his top 3. It is so hard to make a decision based on virtual tours. Would be nice to see inside dorms, dining halls, library etc. Would really like to get a feel of the student body to see if he would fit in.
Yes, of course it would, and your not really going to see that. The tour guide didn’t even take us near the dorms (although I imagine you could find them on your own), but she did explain them in detail and answered my son’s questions about them. They are by grade, so all freshman in same dorm, and the next year they move to sophomore dorm. The virtual tour is helpful, but not like seeing it.
It is quite a long drive, but since he was accepted, that is more reason to go than me! It was a trip that wasn’t life-changing, but wasn’t unpleasant. I loved the campus… it’s just booking the hotel, driving, planning was so tedious. I encourage you to go though… just mentally prepare.
Also… one more week to deposit. This wait is internally killing me I hope they send out acceptances before May. If not, I’ll have to deposit $1000 down for my second choice… Come on Case…
WOW!!! Who is requiring a 1k deposit?! Our highest was 800. for Carnegie Mellon all others were 500. or less.
We are leaving Tuesday for a very long road trip… Delaware-Pittsburgh/CMU-Cleveland/CWRU-South Bend/ Notre Dame-Waco/Baylor-Nashville/Vanderbilt-back to Delaware. We have quite a variety of choices. Son was waitlisted at Vanderbilt but figured we would stop since we would be passing through. I have always wanted to visit Nashville. I am going to book one hotel but just throw caution to wind for the rest of the trip, which is totally out of character for me.
I asked my son if he would stay on waitlist after 5/1. He said no. But I wonder if he will feel the same way if nothing happens before then.
