yea thats what I think I'll do...

Im reviving this thread....

I just realized that I might have been misleading you a bit. My sister got her MBA at Case, not undergrad. My sister got her bachelor's in business from Ohio University and worked as a teller at National City Banks throughout college. After graduating, she qualified for a National City fast track program. After about six months, she was assistant branch manager and then branch manager. She made the branch one of the most efficient in this area of Ohio. National City paid for her to get her MBA at Case and after getting it, she was brought into the corporate headquarters where she develops training programs for managers and does logistical efficiency sort of things that I don't understand.

I'm not sure if you intend to stay in the area, but many, many Cleveland businesses and corporations recruit out of Case. It has great job opportunities. Like I said, you'll be studying very hard, but contrary to popular belief, it does have good social life. Nearly 1/3 of all students are in fraternities or sororities; there are 16 of the former and 6 of the latter. First Years are all sorted into 1 of 4 residential colleges, which compete against each other somewhat and plan events and activites and community projects.

University Circle is an essential stop on a tour of Cleveland -- it's full of hip restuarants, beautiful cityscapes, clubs with good crowds, etc. Your social life will definitely be through the city, not the college, like I said.

Right now, Case is going through some issues, I won't lie about that. But coming from a Clevelander all his life, I think they're more of growing pains than actual problems. Case Western is a relatively new university (in 1967, nearby smaller colleges combined to form it) and for a long time, it was a stagnant institute; most of its students came from nearby. But not long ago, maybe a decade, the university decided it wanted a national presence; it captured all the best places downtown, began building and hiring and recruiting, and creating new programs and all of a sudden, it got really prestigious. It's ranked the #1 undergraduate program in Ohio, the #12 research university in the nation (it spends $1 million a day on research).

You'll either grow to love Cleveland or hate it. Everyone in this city loves to complain about it, but as soon as you challenge it, you'll find scores of citizens trying to jump on you. Everyone is intensely loyal here.

The wikipedia entry has a lot of interesting things about it and it's all accurate (unlike some wikipedia entries, heh). Good luck with your decision!

But just to clarify, Wikipedia has a lot on Case or on Cleveland?

Bumpppppppp!!

Case Western, I mean. Sorry. But probably a lot on Cleveland too, maybe. Haha.

Comment on the vote of no confidence thing mentioned earlier about Case: I go to the school right now and the fact that the president is getting ousted means little to nothing for the undergraduate students as the quality of education isn't effected by this. So I really wouldn't worry too much about it, I know none of the undergrads are.
Not too much help on the buisness school though (I do physics), although I can tell you my buisness major friends all seem to like it pretty well. You also have to realize that Case is a bit more nerdy than your average school, so if you're not interested in that you probably wouldn't enjoy it as much.

so there arent too many slackers?

Do you find most people that go there got into better schools but had gr8 $$ @ Case?
