I am a Sopohmore in High school and the school year just started, and I know for sure I will get a D, I know I will still graduate, but idk if CSULB will accept, I am passing all my classes (C average) and I just do not wanna take bio again, so i was wondering if they will accept me with Just that one D ( hypothetically I passed all my classes)?
2nd question.
If I were to pass Bio this year, could it be possible to drop science, because the A-G requirements say 2 years of science, but at my school every Freshmen takes physical science, so I wasn’t sure about it.
ps: please do not correct me on my grammar, I typed as fast as possible, so I can sleep asap.
- You need to pass all a-g course requirements with a C or better.
- If you get a D first semester, but get a C or higher 2nd semester, you pass the class.
- If you do not pass Bio and you do not plan to retake the class or take another laboratory based Science class, you have not fulfilled the minimum a-g course requirements. You are application will not be considered.
- If you do get a D, but pass 2nd semester, your D will be included into your CSU GPA and it negatively impact your chances at CSULB.
- Since you plan to apply to one of the more competitive CSU’s: CSULB, you need a competitive GPA along with taking a rigorous HS course schedule which would include more than the minimum a-g course requirements for the best chances at an acceptance.
- Passing Physical Science fulfills 1 science requirement but you still need at least 1 other.
- You will also be required to take science GE’s in college, so if you do not get a good background in that area, you will struggle later on.
I suggest since it is early into the school year, to get yourself some help from either your teacher or look for a tutor. If you really do not like science, it is in your best interests to do well in this class, pass and fulfill the a-g course requirements.
You can use the link below and type in your HS to see which other science courses will fulfill the a-g requirements.

Good Luck.
You note above you are earning a C average. One thing to add, Long Beach is one of the more selective CSUs. You’ll need a CSU GPA in the 3.4 range to be competitive. You can get there from where you are but, you really need to step up your game.
See if you can find a peer tutor and a study group.
Good luck.
