Yeah, so I ended up failing calculus AB last semester due to extenuating circumstances (death in the family) and pretty much all of my grades were C's. Normally, I would have been a A/B student, but last semester was devastating.

Anyway, I wrote them a letter and included a death certificate and they sent me a postcard with a response similar to one of the previous posts about how a decision could not be made until your final transcript is received, etc etc.

I'm gonna pass calculus this semester but I'm not sure if I can pass the AP exam. I'm going to be retaking the calc class at a community college during the summer...do you think they still have any reason to rescind my admission?

I seriously hope they don't. I really, really, do NOT want to end up at a community college. It would be horribly embarrassing.

yeah, keep in mind that the reason i'm in this situation is because i just experienced one of the most traumatic years of my life.

if you're going to joke about having horrible *grammar, i suggest you do so on an occasion where somebody's future isn't in threat of being taken away DUE to a traumatic situation. grow up.

no offense but i've noticed EVERYONE who got a D or F in this board (check other uc boards) is blaiming it on a personal situation whether it be a death of a family, or what not, and i'm pretty sure uc's see tons of those as excuses. so... they're going to have to make a cut off at some point. that being said, you said you have a 3.8? that should be good enough so, forget about the excuses so much and just move on.

I have got all A, A+'s except for 2 B+'s in Math-IBSL and Physics-IBSL until my Junior yr. Total GPA 4.13

My senior year fall semester, I have got 2 A’s and 2 B’s with one D- on HOTA (IB HL course). Total GPA at this point in Spring Semester is 3.86 with B on the HOTA (History of the Americans)

What is the ‘acceptable reason’ I should give in my ‘Reporting changes’ to UCSD for my one bad grade so they don’t rescind the admission offer.

In the same situation right now for AP Calculus BC, recieved a D+. @nick2012 and @bman14, what was your end result? I am terrified. Please share your experiences.
