D my freshman year, now I'm a senior

My first semester of Algebra 1 my freshman year and I got a D. Then I switched into Algebra 1A and everything's been great since, all A's after that. My counselor said I didn't have to fix the D because colleges wouldn't look at it. Now I'm worried though, because Cal States say you need 3 years of math with a C or higher. I'm taking math now as a senior and I'm sure I'll get A's, but will this be enough? Will I be ineligible to attent CSU?

If they say "3 years of math with a C or higher. ", then that includes your senior year. Think about it this way: What if they said “4 years of English”?

Whether they look at all 4 years and see the D is a different question. However, having a D in your freshmen year is much better than having a D in your Senior Year. A lot of people have trouble adjusting the first year of HS, let alone College. Colleges know that, and usually take that into account.

One issue might be is how difficult are the math classes you took? If you recovered and are taking pre-calc in your Senior Year, then that is one thing. If you are counting on “consumer math” as one of your math classes, then that might not look so good.
