she is still waiting on Vassar Tufts and BC. she applied to BC for ED and was moved to reg admissions. They said they wanted to see her first semester grades...she got all A's and one B. think she may have a chance? On these schools, when exactly should we hear? This can drive you a little nuts, to say the least.

UCLA had many weird decisions this year, so I wouldn't think too much of it. I had a girl from my school get in with an incredibly inflated 4.2 UC GPA, and only a 1500SAT. Then again, there was the kid with with the 2250 and 4.3 UC GPA who was rejected. Go figure.

maybe just a theory, but perhaps they accepted the girl with the low scores because UCLA was probably her dream school and she would attend if accepted whereas the kid with the great test scores would probably be thinking that UCLA would be his safety and was going to be applying to and accepted to some of the ivies and had no thoughts of actually attending ucla

I am rejected too..lol....w/ 2300 and 4.5 UC GPA...lmao

Maybe UCLA just don't like me

was the 1500 SAT low income? First gen to go to college? single-parent household? All of the above are tip factors in admissions....

how much does first gen to go to college play in role in transfer admission?

Kevin, are you serious? That is really bad.

im out of state, i wasnt too surprised that i didnt get in (2200, 4.3) but i heard today that this girl got in. i dont know her that well but i know my gpa and sats are most likely higher than hers. im confused. does ucla pay a lot of attention to the essay? do they look for a personal connection to the ucla? the only thing i can think of is that she has some personal connection to ucla that i dont have.

am man kevin that sucks! especially because you had such high scores and GPA. seriously i think that ucla admissions officers are on crack or something

just wondering, kevin, is ucla your dream school or something?

sarah:

Yes, UCLA (and Cal) pay a LOT of attention to the essay. Negative to personal connection.

It's difficult for OOS kids, but, personally, I don't think the UCs offer good value at OOS prices. The only exception I might make is for Cal's engineering program.

single parent households are an advantage?

well, my mom always wants me to go there.... lol

Personally, I don't care which school I go, but just feel sad that I didn't get in. (I'll just go to UCSD if all the schools reject me on next week..lol )

Also, I think undergrad is just another kind of 4yr high school life. You still have to maintain a high GPA, to do good on GMAT, MCAT, GRE..etc, and EC stuff. So it doesn't really matter where you go, as long as you get at least a UC to go, it'll be fine.

Life goes on!
