Hello, my son would like to start attending dance auditions and sending his info to agencies. Also some colleges are asking for pictures. Can someone please tell me what dance positions should he include on a zed/comp card? He is trained in ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop and modern. Should we show a variety? Thanks!

I don’t know what a zed/comp card is, but I have noticed that some programs specify exactly what photographs they want to see. All I remember is they all seemed to want an arabesque. Try looking around to get a general idea. I’ll ask my daughter, too. She is a curator for dance talent. I wish your son luck.

A lot of times the picture is just to watch the name with a face. It doesn’t need to be a professional picture or head shot necessarily.

If he is auditioning for jobs he should have professional head shots done. Most schools want another dance photo usually in arabesque but I would check with each school that he is auditioning for. When my dd was auditioning for schools we went to a photographer that specialized in dance. He did an amazing job and worth it. She is using them 2 years later. We are going to use him again when she starts auditioning for jobs. Good Luck.
