Hey y’all!
As you know, tomorrow is SAT day! So exciting! I’m planning on taking Spanish, Math 2, and Lit (RIP to my sanity that one should be fun lol). Anyways, I’ve taken two SAT subject tests last year and got semi eh scores on both: a 660 on Math 2 and a 670 on Biology E. Which I mean considering that it was in the middle of finals week and I had literally zero preparation, I felt alright about.
But here’s the thing…I thought I’d have more time to prepare for (tomorrow’s) subject tests. And yet here I am, cram studying in a last-ditch effort to get a 700+. It’s probably not going to go well.
I’m applying to a few schools that require these fabulous subject tests (thank you, Princeton, Northwestern, and Georgetown…) and I’m just wondering that if I were to hypothetically get yet another high 600s score if that would significantly impact the quality of my application.
I mean, my scores are probably going to look something like this, if everything goes how I expect it will:
Bio: 670 (not taking that ever again nope nope nope)
Math 2: It will probably get like a 10-20 point boost since I’m bad at math. So maybe a 690 or a 700 if I’m really lucky??
Spanish: LOL NOT A GOOD SCORE, probably a 650 or so
Lit: Idk this one could be all over the place, 650-700.
(And obviously I’m going to choose from the highest of the four scores to send)
Sooooo how do you think an application to Georgetown, for instance, would be received if the applicant had an ok ACT (32), pretty great ECs (I do way too many and am way too involved, most likely why I don’t have time to study for these tests lol), and can write a really great essay (so far they’re all looking awesome)? If you were an admissions officer, would you be like “nope she’s got bad subject scores” and make it the determining factor? Or would you just say “huh, ok not the greatest but let’s look at other stuff?”
Thanks for any help!!
