@homerdog My daughter was ED last year, and signed up for a Dimensions visit. They are in April, during the week, so kids can go to 2 classs that they select. I think there were 3 dates. My D was told that RD gets first choice and if room they let ED attend. I believe she found out she could attend in late March. A lot of RD kids go to Dimensions.
Does a RD student have to commit in order to attend Dimensions? Meaning is Dimensions open to only students who committed or is it open to RD students who have been accepted but have not decided on attending Dartmouth?
@FoundDad, no they do not have to commit to attend. Its to help them make a decisio.
@homerdog My D just told me there were 2 dates that they offer- she went mid April. She stayed with a student the night before and went to classes, lunch etc the next day.
The Dimensions visits are primarily geared towards RD admits who are weighing their options. Dartmouth even has a name for admits who attend Dimensions - prospies!
@sdteak At the opening meeting they specifically welcomed ED students and RD students.
Great thank you so much for clarifying - my son is very excited - we are too ; )! Do parents attend or is only for students? What kind of events were there for first time parents?
@sdteak - I googled prospies and this is what I found!!!

@founddad all schools have these events for RD admitted students so they can visit and make their decisions. For the ED kids, it’s a nice way to meet some other ED kids who will be in their class and RD kids who may choose Dartmouth. You can google Dimensions on Dartmouth to see last year’s itineraries.
@FoundDad I attended, stayed at 6 South Street Hotel. The opening meeting - students in one room and parents in another where it was livestreamed. Parents can go to classes which I did- wished I was 18 again! I went back to my hotel and my daughter did a few more activities. It was over late afternoon- maybe 5/6
Hi @oscar63 - thank you - very helpful. Going to visit colleges does make you want to be 18 again!!! I am very much looking forward to going. Was it held on a weekend or weekday? I am assuming based on your feedback that it is only one day. Thanks again
@homerdog - this is my first - my oldest is going to college so all a bit new to me. We survived the application process and were very fortunate so now trying to understand the next steps. I hope your son gets accepted to the college that he loves the most. good luck.
@founddad LY had two options. One was a Mon/Tues and one was a Thurs/Fri.
@FoundDad Yes one weekday. The kids check in the day before and meet there student mentor whom they stay with. At this point I was on my own. Met up with my daughter the next morning for breakfast before the activities.
@homerdog thanks very much. After your reply I searched and found the program from last year:

I just got an interview request today via email — seems somewhat early. Anyone else get anything?
@CuriousApp I got one yesterday, I thought the same thing though!
@curiousapp @hannah1789 where do you guys live? No email here yet but I’ve been assured S will get an interview according to our alumni friends in our town.
@homerdog I live in NY, about an hour north of NYC
The ED people here can assure you - everyone gets an interview as long as there is a local alumni. However, it means nothing. Just an opportunity for Dartmouth to sell the school, for alumni to stay involved, and for candidates to ask questions. Which is fine, but again, it does not make any difference to the admission decision. Also, local alumni are required to recuse themselves if they know the kid/family, so expect an interviewer other than the people you know. Good luck.
