I have the exact same experience and exact same checklist on my fa portal. @dreamthief001
It looks like this:
Status Details Date
Received CSS Financial Aid PROFILE 01/15/2019
Received Individual E-mail Follow Up to Family 03/18/2019
Received Signed custodial parents’ 2017 income tax return 03/14/2019
Hey guys, deferred ED applicant here. I recieved an automated email early this morning saying that my finaid application is incomplete and that I should fill out the parent and student asset verification form ASAP. I think this is Dartmouth-specific, as no other school has requested this from me. My dates have also all changed. Last week, my portal still had dates from early November / late October and this form was NOT listed.
I do not know if there is a correlation between date changes and acceptance. This was also a big topic of discussion earlier this year on this forum.
Question: did everyone recieve this email? Or have only a few of you recieved it?
Also, I can infer that if the finaid office has individually emailed you… you can expect a favorable result on Ivy Day. Anecdotally, I can tell you that I know somebody who didn’t hand in his CSS profile and was personally contacted by Dartmouth 1 week before the decision release date to fill out the profile ASAP. And then… when decision day rolled around, he was accepted.
yep my dates changed in late february when i received my first email and then changed as the new stuff requested of me was added to my portal last week
You would infer incorrectly. You may get a favorable response come Ivy Day, but history has shown that even more will receive an unfavorable response. There is no correlation.
@factoryboylol I have the same exact portal situation (dates are different) and a personal FA email which I received on the 14th itself
Guys, there is no correlation and it does not matter.
There are many who get in with these emails, and many who get in without. (From personal anecdotes)
Also, Thanks for the clarification @dreamthief001 something similar happened to me!
@factoryboylol Is that all regarding the contents of your FA page on the portal? I’d love to hear on this.
It all depends on whether they need more info on your financial sitch, or if you have sent everything possible, or if they can eval an aid amt on the docs already sent by. I used to believe otherwise until I saw mixed results from my older friends and seniors.
@TheGuy1 Yep! I’m international so there aren’t many docs I can send.
^Of course people get in without receiving the email; the discussion is not about whether or not you have to get a financial aid email in order to get accepted. It is about whether or not there is a correlation between receiving the email and being accepted. Personally, I believe the email most likely just means that an applicant has not been completely ruled out yet (Admissions could still be discussing, or has admitted or waitlisted). Then again, what do I know? It could mean nothing, but it just seems that too many people on past threads have been either accepted or waitlisted for this to be the case.
Good luck to everyone on Ivy Day!
@factoryboylol Ah makes sense.
THeres a rumor floating about regarding the 5 or 7 rows disparity for domestic apps. Apparently there are some with 5 FA rows, some with 7. Idk what it means, and Ive stated what it logical could in my previous post here, but I’m wondering tbh.
I have 7 rows. No clue what it means
At the best case scenario, thats a valid assumption IMO.
Ofc I’m referring to ppl who’ve applied for Finaid and dont get the email but still get in, in case theres a misunderstanding.
@TheGuy1 Only people who have missing information would receive the email. If someone has a complete financial aid application, there is no reason to receive the email and getting accepted does not disprove a potential correlation. I’m confused now though, maybe we are misunderstanding each other? Haha
For what it’s worth… aside from the CSS profile and FAFSA (which remained the same), all FA documents changed dates from early November to March 22nd.
@matthewlutchko My FA application to Dartmouth was complete, and I even sent signed copies of my parents’ tax returns before Dartmouth asked for them as I read it is a requirement on their website. I received an email to re-confirm (emphasis here) a question which was answered on my CSS application already.
I have like twelve rows haha I think it just depends on how many documents you submitted in IDOC
@matthewlutchko yep, like @desifirefighter, my FA was complete back in november i think (and dartmouth received it in january when i sent my application). the email asked very specific, addition questions. but i agree that not receiving the email means nothing, because you could just have a completed FA application and they don’t need any more info!
also does anyone know why the federal verification form would be complete and listed on my portal, but i was never asked to fill out the form?
@dreamthief001 I agree, my son has 10 rows. I think their request will depends on what documentation they need based upon your specific financial situation. If the forms are already on IDOC it appears they go ahead and pull it.
Lol I submitted everything except FAFSA and CSS late (beginning of March) so I doubt the dates change for me even if I do somehow get accepted
I have 15 rows on my FA checklist so I don’t think that will have any correlation. Just depends what financial information they need for your situation
