Dartmouth College RD Class Of 2017!

You wouldn’t know how to read.

@johnyenglish - You do realize that what your science textbook says at the high school level is actually a much simplified version of what is and what is not. :)

@GoodACT - you received a likely??

Order I will be checking:

  1. Dartmouth (I got a likely letter, so I want to start off on a good note)
  2. Harvard
  3. Brown
  4. Yale

I seem to be late to this party! I applied to Dartmouth as well! I graduated high school two years ago (pretty late, I know), dropped out of a college I didn’t like earlier last year, and am now working at a startup nonprofit thinktank that’s making strides in my home country!

Cheers, and I’ll be checking Dartmouth first.

@rishav That’s correct.

Checking Order:

  1. Brown (deferred ED)
  2. Dartmouth
  3. Princeton
  4. Yale
  5. Harvard

I’ll probably check:

  1. Harvard
  2. Yale
  3. Princeton
The first one I get into (wishful thinking) will be my cue to stop. If I get into none of them (realistic thinking) I will stop anyways as I have already gotten into my fourth choice. I will check the rest after a day of mourning/rejoicing. Fun fun.

Assuming they all come out at the same time (which they probably won’t given delays):

  1. Princeton
  2. Dartmouth
  3. Brown
  4. Harvard

Princeton,
Datmouth,
Yale.

I’m sorta kinda basically expecting a Dartmouth acceptance. Using my epic chancing thing, I’ve found that I have a pretty good shot.

And I’m expecting a princeton rejection because of the way I’ve bungled my application.

So the progression will be “NBD”, then (hopefully) “Okay…I’m worth something” and then NBD again when I get rejected from my first choice college on the basis of the prior self-evaluation.

And if the plan fails (which can only occur if Dartmouth rejects me, because any other chance in expectations would be awesome), then I was going to be sad on the 28th either way.

I have it down to a cognitive science.

Philotivist, let’s hear about this epic chancing thing. I’m ever so curious.

nah, its rlly nbd

Hi everyone! Just stumbled on this thread. I’ll check mine

  1. Princeton
    2.Harvard
  2. Yale
  3. UPenn
  4. Dartmouth
In order of increasing likelihood of acceptance

Starting to think Princeton > H.

My life has been a liiiiieeeeee.

^purely out of curiosity, what has given you that opinion?

I want to hear about your chancing thing too, Philovitist! I’d like to know why you’re so confident.

I’m going to do:

  1. Princeton
  2. Dartmouth
  3. Brown

All will be rejections so this list is based on who will be nicer about it. lol

@good
Princeton is starting to seem like a better fit (as if I could get into either lulz). Campus is nicer, dorms are perf, excellent CS program, least liberal of the Ivies, financial aid is lovely. And the ug experience. I hear it’s similar to an LAC’s? Yiiisss.
Idk about the AA community there, though.

Hmmmm an interesting perspective, thanks!

Going to be that loser and say all my colleges per alphabetical order.

So Carnegie Mellon first (it comes out on the 26th anyway), Brown, Columbia, Cornell, Dartmouth, Duke… etc.

My (idiotic) attempt to be as objective about this as possible - can’t set yourself up with all your hopes on one or two dream schools.

Actually, I’m probably just going to check whichever one portal starts working first. I know Harvard actually email you so I can’t control when I receive that.
