Those are my three chances. I may have skewed them with the way I (my parents) bungled my application. But yeah. My chancing method seems to have been very successful so far; I got deferred from Yale and accepted (likelied and/or declared Scholar of some sort) at schools where I had a much better chance.

So I’m somewhat optimistic about Dartmouth, but not about my other schools. I’ve learned by now that people like me almost always lose coin tosses. If my method fails me, I won’t be broken or anything (there’s still that 21%), but until then, I’m casually optimistic.

I only applied to Cornell and Dartmouth; that seems like so few compared to you guys lol

I’ll probably check Cornell first (ABC order and where I have better chances). I’m not really expecting much though, kinda curious about how Philovitist can be so confident. :P

I dunno. Even though I’ve had these numbers for months, now, my Yale deferral had me thinking that they were bull and extremely inflated (it was actually 49% when I applied SCEA). But recent news has me rethinking this, moderating my position.

In the end, these are probabilities, not guarantees. I’m optimistic, but I know I’m not applying to some community college.

Eurgh. I got WLed at Northwestern today and am now terrified for all my other applications. I didn’t even want to go to Northwestern, but man - way to wreck the few shards of confidence that were left after my WL from Chicago…

@Philo, I’m still curious as to how you came up with the numbers.
EDIT: Never mind, just saw your post on the Epic Chances forum. Don’t mind if I take you up on that, yeah?

I completely understand how you’re feeling. I was rejected from Rice and WLed at Bowdoin - not a great day for me.

Honestly, admissions to top schools are so random that it’s hard to predict results for one schools based on results from another. Our day of judgement is the 28th. Until then, don’t sweat it.

Does anyone else’s financial aid checklist show almost all of their documents as “Received - review in progress”? Funnily enough, the only two things that are satisfied (FAFSA and CSS) are the ones i turned in early january…haha. My thinking is that once they reviewed my file, they didn’t feel the need to continue with my FA.

@Happy, that’s the debate behind the “Email regarding FA” thread, if you want to go check that out.

@Opaline, I got accepted to UCLA today - this whole process is a roller coaster ride and I don’t know what to make of it. I guess we’re all just sitting tight until Thursday.

@Aurelie
They will release their decisions either directly through email or on their application status tracking website.

I got rejected from Rice earlier today… 1 acceptance 4 rejections… I feel like I will be getting no more acceptances by 1st April… I might, but doubt it

@MRU and Him
I’m in the same boat boys. 1 acceptance, 2 W/L, 1 rejection from my top-choice so far. Even if you guys aren’t Christians, check out Jeremiah 29:11. It helped me persevere through the rejections. :)

Welp, there’s obviously something hugely deficient in my application since this is just the latest in a string of bad news. I’m pretty sure that Ivy Day is going to be a defeat for me, too.

Whatever happens on the 28th, it’s been nice sharing a board with you guys!

I’m so happy to say that Ivy Day will be stress free for me - like scratching off a lottery ticket - for I received a full ride to Villanova and it looks like I’ll be attending there come fall. Good luck to the rest of you guys, you all deserve the best!

Well, it’s been going pretty well for me so far. Got into UVA and UNC-CH, both OOS, and all of my safeties (including W&M, Bucknell, BC, UCSB/Davis…) Waitlisted at Rice, but I was expecting that as I applied kind of at the last minute. Rejected from UCLA (my only rejection so far). A little surprised, but I don’t care that much. Looking forward to next week!

I’ve still got a perfect game going somehow, but I’ll probably get denied by my entire top three on Ivy Day and go 9 for 12 with my luck. The tension is really mounting at this point.

@ACTor, are you 9 for 9 right now?! That’s awesome.

@harborceal, UCLA’s acceptances this year were sort of random. They picked people from all over my school’s SAT/GPA spectrum and ignored a lot of my friends who probably should have gotten in on merit alone. shrug what can you do?

So far I have 5 acceptances (3 are UCs, which is kind of meh) and 2 WLs (Northwestern and UChicago). A WL at Northwestern does not bode well for Ivy day… I’ll console myself by thinking it’s because a) my supplemental essay wasn’t good and b) I didn’t even get an interview to HPME.

I can’t direct a message at you like this without feeling like I’m insulting you because of your name, haha.
Nah, 7/7 thus far, but if my current acceptances are at all indicative of the other two that aren’t HYP (which they probably aren’t lol), then I have a chance at least.
