dartmouth decisions are up...

No, this affects this year's transfer applicants, because Dartmouth has only so many beds, and they quarantee housing for Freshman. So if there are more Freshman students coming than they anticipated or have space for, then there are fewer spaces for any other applicants. It's a function of the baby-boomlet. My son, who was accepted as a Freshman last year. but decided to go elsewhere, reapplied as a transfer and was just denied. So that shows you how few spots thay have room for.

Anyone know if beds are in fact a concern for the school?

Housing is not quaranteed for all 4 years. Read about the "d" plan. It was started a while back because too many acceptances came in and they needed to "rotate' students out in order to make room. Now the only classes that have to be on campus during a normal Sept-June period are freshman and seniors. Sophomores are required to be on campus the summer after their sophomore year. Travel abroad programs and interships are encouraged during regular school quarters, in order to make rooms for 4000 students on a campus with approx 3500 beds.

With 3.5 billion dollars, one would think they'd purchase a few more beds.

^I know, lol! Plus the location shouldn't exactly be high-priced...

Screw dartmouth

Accepted, not legacy, never applied before, not an athletic recruit.
So I would suppose it is possible.

Waiting on a couple other schools.

what were your stats? and Congrats!

I personally don't really like the idea of "stats" that much, but that's probably because of applying to things in undergrad and having to slough through all of them so much.

I'll post them in any case, because I remember my own frustration with people who didn't post up their stats after a one-liner.

Thanks for your congrats as well!

Recommendations for two GSIs, one of which had the professor sign off.
Recommendation from advisor is from the associate dean of Letters and Sciences at Berkeley.

My guess in admittance is because of the combination of good stats as well as with a genuine reason--especially since it probably showed in my recommendations as well, not just my personal essays.

I think it also helped that I didn't try to embellish my reasons too much with extraneous bells and whistles--I was pretty clear and to the point why I wanted to transfer and matched those to what Dartmouth could offer.

Excellent stats. Thanks for posting, I know it's annoying. Why did you come to Berkeley in the first place and what major did you apply to at Dartmouth if you don't mind my asking? What other schools are you waiting on?
