Dartmouth Early Decision Class of 2021

http://www.dartmouth.edu/~dartmouthdirect/2016/12/applying-to-dartmouth-qa-with-our-dean-of-admissions-and-director-of-financial-aid/ here is the link to the q&a they had and the question, “How long is the waiting process to hear back from Dartmouth after I send my application” has the date (12/14)

@tokper7

At a normal public high school in Connecticut, 5 kids were accepted to the Class of 2020, 3 of them as RD.

@BGMuleri I got the exact same email the first week of December! The weird thing is a new required form popped up on my FA checklist after receiving the email, and the form showed as ‘Awaiting’ (I completed it, so it now shows as ‘Received’.) I don’t really think they’d waste time on financial aid packages for students that have already been rejected.

Anybody that could give us some insight? :slight_smile:

@CheekyNandos That makes sense, thanks

@mindofbp Interesting thanks! Just making sure I wasn’t missing anything

The financial aid and admissions departments are unconnected so it would be pointless to speculate. It’s probably the most likely that the financial aid department saw that you were missing something and asked for it meaning that your decision will be completely unrelated.

I feel confident that I got in one moment and at the next like I’m the most underqualified person to ever apply to Dartmouth.

@BGMuleri You must be a recruited athlete then

I’m sorry everybody. I don’t actually look down on recruited athletes, it just seemed like such an obvious joke.

@dartagnaneb I wish my parent’s could afford to put me in a sport at a young age. I don’t even know how to swim.

@GiddyHiddy if yo go to Dartmouth, you’ll know by graduation!

I know of 5 other super-qualified kids at my public CT high school who all applied ED at Dartmouth – a recruited athlete, a legacy, a kid who spent his last 2 summers at Dartmouth programs on-campus, my school’s (future) valedictorian, a kid who got a 36 ACT, and myself. I view myself as well-rounded and qualified as well, but I’m up against some hard competition.

Does Dartmouth have a quota for a single school? How much is this hurting me??

Lol I’m not a recruited athlete or athlete of any sort. Just anxiety getting the best of me.

68 people earlied to Stanford from my school, but the same number of people that got in historically through ea didn’t change. So no, I do not think any schools have quotas per se, but going to a more competitive school or wealthy area will make it more difficult for you to stand out. So while there is no quota, if you don’t stand out with respect to your racial/economic background your chances will suffer.

@dartagnaneb My parents are from the middle east, so swimming is never a top priority. Do they look at middle eastern and north african students separately from just Caucasian?

@BGMuleri I was describing this to someone the other day. It’s like a roller coaster, some days I feel like there is no way i won’t get in, and then other days i feel like i wasted my ED application.

@GiddyHiddy Couldn’t give you a definitive answer, but my assumption is that Middle Eastern descent will be viewed differently from European descent.

I’m just thinking good thoughts and hoping for the best until Wednesday… 64 hours people!!

@dartagnaneb That is what I was wondering, thanks.

@ihopeigetin1152 If only Dartmouth was as quick as UPenn then we all would have known on Friday
