Dartmouth Early Decision Class of 2021

Just sent in my application and supplements. Good Luck to all and wish me the same.

Thank You!!

@b1ggreenca right but like you said at the end of your paragraph, students are considered based on “what they potentially bring to [Dartmouth’s] entering class.” If they play the same instrument, have the same GPA, and have similar extracurriculars, they essentially bring the same thing to the entering class.

^^I should have explained what I meant. I didn’t mean checking off boxes such as what instrument they play or what extracurriculars they have. I meant the intangible things that the schools looks for, what the student as a person brings to add to the college community, including their passions. Those are the things that the interviews, essays, and recommendations get at more than anything else. And, in the case of Dartmouth in particular, the peer recommendation. Just because two students have similar grades and do similar things, it doesn’t mean they are equivalent at all, IMHO.

Hi everyone from an ED Dartmouth 20!
Best of luck to all of you! Whatever ends up happening, I’m sure you’ll all find a place that will be a great fit for you. Dartmouth is a great place and a special place, but it’s not the only place. (:
Anyway, I remember the nerves I had at this point last year, and I would suggest trying your best to take your mind off of it and enjoy the fact that you’ve done all you can and it’s out of your hands. I spent so much time wondering about my application and worrying about the result that I forgot to really enjoy my senior year and the last few months I had in my hometown. So, take a walk around your neighborhood and really take in everything around you, because even if Dartmouth is amazing, you’ll miss home.
Good luck again to all of you! You’re all incredibly talented and accomplished students to have made it this far, and remember that your worth as a person is not decided by an admissions committee, good or bad.

I applied 10/17. I’m still waiting on my October SAT IIs to come back on Thursday, but otherwise I’m gearing up for the wait.

Hey everyone! I have a question about reporting some APs for Dartmouth (I made a separate thread as well, but figured it couldn’t hurt to ask here!) I got a 3 on my AP Physics 2 test in junior year. Would this hurt me to list on the common app? My other AP scores are 4s on the World/US History Tests. Not sure if it has any effect. My gpa is 3.9/4.0 and 33 ACT. Thanks in advance everyone and good luck!!

FYI to all of you, if you only submit one SAT II score, the Application Management System will still say “awaiting” even though they received your score. It will only show up as arrived if two are sent, but two, as you all know, are recommended but not required.

I asked Admissions about that and that was their response.

How will Dartmouth consider a 1520 on the new SAT? Sufficient?

@buffalo11 what do you mean by sufficient? 1520 falls/will most likely fall(data does not yet exist for SAT-R) within the middle 50% of accepted students.

@jkennyy I sincerely hope you retook your ACTs or perhaps the SATs if there was a potential mistake, considering Dartmouth’s 25th percentile is a 30, 75th a 34, and average a 32. Also just a piece of advice, I would avoid mentioning superficial extracurriculars (such as simply being a member of a club) and focus more on your leadership roles in your more engaging clubs

Guys. I forgot to send my ACT and SAT II score. I just requested them to be sent not long ago. Am I dead meat?

^ you are fine.

Any guesses, guys, as to when decisions will come out this year?

December 15th is my guess

Just got my interview request gonna go this friday.

congrats @BGMuleri and good luck!

Good luck to all! I’ve had my application submitted since the 18th of October, hoping (praying…?) for an interview request soon. @BGMuleri how did the interview request come? By phone, email? If email, was it your interviewers personal email or a Dartmouth one. Thanks!

@Erikj28 my request came through my interviewers personal email and gave me a three to five day period to prepare as he opened me to choosing any time this weekend. I was scared they would disregard my application because my teacher has failed to turn in my second recommendation letter -_- .

@BGMuleri the teacher recommendations didn’t have to be in by the 11/1 deadline.
