Thanks do you know if they’ll still regard my application without SAT 2 Scores ? I didn’t really have time to take them last year and still undecided about taking them next year.
This year*
@BGMuleri I believe they will still regard your application. According to some threads in this subforum, it won’t weigh you down a lot.
Even though Dartmouth recommends two SAT II tests, is it okay if I just submit one? I am taking 2 subject tests this Saturday and if I don’t do well on one but do well on the other, would it be okay for me to just submit the one test that I did well on?
yes @Neverwhere I did retake the ACT’s. I feel pretty good about my performance and I also got my previous scores re-scored. If there is an error they will inform Dartmouth so I’m hoping for the best! Thanks for the advice
@Erikj28 alumni volunteer interviewers will contact you personally if you get assigned to one. They have your email, mobile and home phone (if one exists). There’s no “standard” way to reach you.
What I do is send an email. And then immediately follow up with a text to say “Hi, my name is T26E4 from X college. I sent you an email about interviews. Can you check it? Thnx”’
And then we’ll communicate via email or telephonically afterward. This works for me. But I can imagine some alums not texting at all… it depends. Make sense?
@T26E4 Makes complete sense, thank you so much!
Does anyone know what day the Early Decisions are released?/ Or when and how Dartmouth will tell us the day/time?
@anyone23 There’s not an exact date, but you can expect it to be around 12/15.
The day is yet to be determined by the Ivies. Usually it’s the Thurs before 12/15. But this year, 12/15 is a Thursday so that date is possible. Once they convene, they’ll choose a date. It’ll appear here on CC.
Just got my interview request for this Sunday! Kinda freaking out about it; any tips?
Haven’t received an email yet about an interview? Anyone else?
@buffalo11 I haven’t either. My free time is spent refreshing my inbox. It’s not so much whether or not I’m concerned about whether I will get an interview or not, but more my assumption that living in a large city (Atlanta) would make it more likely that I got one. Regardless, it’s ok to not receive one, and it’s also not too late to be hearing about one. The ED checklist did list Alumni Interview as a mid-November item.
I received my invitation today. Probably they took awhile to pair me with an alumni in Singapore.
@buffalo11 I’m in the same situation, and I’m right outside Portland, OR so I expect an Alum to be near me…
Dartmouth does not have a high percentage of applicants interviewed I believe. Among the Ivies, Yale, Princeton, Harvard and Penn are the ones that interview 60% or more. I’m pretty sure Dartmouth is way less than that
I was offered an interview earlier tonight! Hopefully I stumble upon something brilliant in my words.
Anybody have an idea how many ED applications Dartmouth received? Hoping it was less than 2,000!
Advice for ED applicants from my D, who is a '19: “The primary purpose of the interview is to see whether you are a fit with the Dartmouth community. Don’t overthink it. Just show up, be personable and articulate, and show them who you really are.”
For those of you too nervous to think that’s enough guidance, you can always take a look at this webpage: http://www.dartmouth.edu/~interviewers/interviewing/#conducting. It will give you a sense of how Dartmouth Admissions wants the interview experience to go, and what kinds of questions you can expect.
Best wishes to all of you – both in your interviews and in the college application process!
I’m a brazilian high school senior and also applied ED to Dartmouth. Unlike other Ivies, Dart is definitely my dream school due to its small town residential community, liberal arts focus, and green side/commitment (I’m from the Amazon and want to work with Environmental Sustainability).
I’m almost sure there’s no Dartmouth alumnus in Brazil, especially in the Amazon, so no interviews for me. Anyways, I really hope it does not affect my application after all.
Wish you all good look in this amazing waiting time
