Dartmouth Early Decision Class of 2021

^^You never know, someone might want to Skype with you!

AHHH ! I just realized I didn’t turn in any of my Fin Aid materials for Dartmouth despite applying ED. Do you think this will negatively affect me ? I plan on collecting everything to turn them in soon just disappointed I let that slip.

It wouldn’t change anything about your admissions, I don’t think, but you should talk to the FinAid department after you send everything in.The IDOC stuff took awhile for me.

@dartagnaneb thanks so much for the reply. I’ll give the FinAid department a call today to see.

hi I had my interview last week. It extended for almost 2 hours I didn’t even realize the time! Is it a good thing that we really submerged in our conversation? And btw, do you guys know how many days after the interview that the alumna should submit his/her report to the admissions office?

@thumoon my interviewer told me they wanted them to do it day of if possible so that the details of the interview were fresh in their minds.

My interviewer and mine spent a lot of time talking also and because of the season it was getting quite dark in the area of DC we had our interview. My interviewer said he would turn in my report on the final possible day to give me time to talk to him and communicate.

I sent him a thank you email and that was the final time we spoke, I believe he mentioned the 23rd being the final day for interview reports to be turned in.

Dartmouth just requested my first quarter grades. Is that normal? What does that mean? Also, my grades are 100 in every class except for gym which I got an 85 for some reason. Will that influence their decision?

@pjwinstalls I would guess they are intrigued, so that is good – even better that you are crushing the semester (don’t give the gym grade a second thought lol)

@pjwinstalls How were you notified they wanted them? Did they contact you or your school?

Does every ED applicant/ ED applicant’s school get asked for first quarter grades? If not, what do you think it means for the kids that have/have not been asked for them?

It doesn’t mean much. Typically they will ask for your quarter grades if your performance has been changing throughout your time in high school (upward trend/downward trend) to see how you have further developed in your senior year.

@poipr123 Perhaps you know more than I do, but it stands to reason that the admissions officers wouldn’t bother if they were leaning towards denial this late in the game. I maintain that it is a good sign.

Just had my interview today and it went incredibly well. If i have any advice for those who haven’t had their’s yet (almost everyone has) is to be well versed in what Dartmouth is known for. My interviewer was really impressed with how much i knew about the school.

do you guys know the result date urghh I’m so nervous

@thumoon Brown has said 12/14 and Harvard has said 12/13. It’s going to be sometime in that week of the 12th-16th.

I know that last year it was the 16th. Hopefully it’s sooner though!

So I just recently found out that I’m either 1/8 or 1/16 Native American. I know that Dartmouth is huge on Native American presence at the college, so should I call and tell them? Would it give me an advantage?

Probably not. Being descended from Native Americans is different from being an active part of Native American culture.
I may be wrong about this though.

@harry6199 You mean this discovery happened within the last 3 weeks or so since you submitted your ED application???

At this point, I think it’ll be seen as naked gaming on your part – and frowned upon.
