I got the same email…I wonder if that’s a good sign…
It means that they need FA documents. Nothing else.
Do you work for Dartmouth and if so in what capacity?
No. But Dartmouth is not unique and I have been around the block a few times. A request from the FA office - which is separate from admissions - portends nothing. Absent a Likely Letter, there are no tea leaves to be read until 4/6.
I don’t think it takes a Dartmouth AO to know that an automated financial aid email does not indicate any admissions “easter eggs”. From my knowledge, admissions operates independently from financial aid. I got the email, too, btw.
Someone is paying him/her to respond…I thought it might be Dartmouth…
Ski is an unpaid moderator on CC, with a wealth of knowledge regarding the college admissions process. It’s no secret that Dartmouth admissions and financial aid processes operate independently, and FA requesting more info means just that…they need more info. It is not a ‘tell’ for admission.
i didn’t get an email but all my financial aid docs are submitted
probably just having you check to see if you’re missing any docs, as they require a lot for their FA review
It’s not Dartmouth. My money is made based upon number of responses to my posts and the number of likes I receive. I am just rolling in the dough.
Has anyone heard of anyone getting/gotten a Dartmouth likely letter yet?? @skieurope Do you have any insight on Dartmouth likely letters? It’s weird that we’re only like 4 weeks away and I haven’t heard of anyone getting one. Yale and Harvard have both sent theirs.
No insight on when or if LLs are going out. But I also believe there is way to much preoccupation on them as very few are sent.
Does anyone know how many total freshman they are looking to place this year and how many have applied?
The number of applicants this year is 28,338 of which 2,664 were in the Early round. Also, each year Dartmouth is looking to enroll a class of at least 1,150 first years. However, this year is very different because a record number of 175 admitted 24’s took a gap year and most likely they will enroll this fall. For that reason let’s assume that including those 175 the target class is 1,200. In reality then from this year’s applicants, Dartmouth will enroll about 1,200 - 175 = 1,025 .
Assuming a high yield of about 63% like in 2019, then they will admit a total of about 1,627 applicants including the 566 early admission applicants.
That would result to an admission rate of about 5.7% or a RD rate of 4%.
Disappointing news for my daughter but thank you so much for the breakdown!
D just got an email about financial aid documents and them needing more information to make a financial aid decision. Does this mean anything? I told her it is probably routine practice, but she is acting a bit crazy LOL. Needed to just check here and see. Thanks.
It means they need more FA information. Nothing else.
Got it. Thanks.
From looking at past threads and asking around, I found that it means you made it past the preliminary round and they’re reviewing your financial documents to see if they can afford you.
So is not getting this email a bad sign?
