Not true. It means they need additional information. That’s it. There is no coded message here.
No. Read nothing into getting an email. Read nothing into not getting an email.
just out of curiosity, did anyone submit a non-custodial waiver for FA? mine still hasn’t been marked as waived or denied, and I’ve triple-checked with the aid office that everything they needed to make a decision had been received.
i might just be psyching myself out, but is that a possible indicator that i’m rejected? or are waiver petitions just not high on the priorities list?
Dartmouth is need blind for domestic applicants so the FA checklist has no relation to the admissions decision.
okay awesome! i ran into an issue with Barnard where they rejected my waiver and said that my application would be incomplete until I upload my NCP taxes, so I was worried that was happening here. thank you!!!
Thank you to the moderators and others for correcting all of the misinformation on this site. Very frustrating.
Are there any Dartmouth Bounders on here, that were deferred during ED?
My kiddo is a bounder but he didn’t apply ED
Good luck to your son! Mine was a Bounder, who was deferred.
Good luck to your kiddo too! I sending good vibes for our kids/ they are getting in!!
My daughter attended Dartmouth Bound (she’s a senior now) and got in. All of the friends she made in Bound also got in. I’m crossing my fingers my son and yours follow suit!
I am an international student and I got an email from the Financial Aid Office saying that my application is incomplete. It goes as follows: “Although the Admissions Committee is still deliberating, the Financial Aid Office is currently reviewing Class of 2025 documents. We want to ensure that when candidates are selected for admission, we will have sufficient information on file to make a financial aid decision.” When I checked my portal, an item had been added to my financial aid checklist: “Signed Custodial Parents’ 2019 Income Tax Return,” and it was marked as awaiting. In past CC threads, I have seen that this is often an indicator of either an acceptance or waitlist. Is it really a good sign?
People assume that; people are wrong.
The only thing it means is your FA info is not complete.
Why would they care if a student’s financial aid info is incomplete 10 days before the decisions are released if they already decided to reject them? Additionally, it isn’t that anything was missing on my financial aid checklist: they literally added a new item. Also, not every international student has gotten this email. I don’t feel like it plainly implies that my FA info is incomplete.
Edit: I am not pretending that this is a straight-up acceptance/waitlist. I just feel like it means I wasn’t straight-up rejected, and they’re still considering me, with decisions being out in 10 days.
The FA office is separate from admissions. The compiled FA info for all applicants, not just the ones who will be accepted. In the absence of a Likely Letter, there is nothing in any communication from Dartmouth prior to April 6 that foretells an admissions decision.
Hey great to hear that you got the email! which country are you from?
Anyone have insight on the class of 2025 stats? # of applicants, avg GPA, etc.? just want to weigh my chances here. Thanks!
Then would you explain why many of my international applicant friends didn’t get the same updates as me? We sent the exact same documents too…
I have no desire to do so again, as I have documented my rationale many times previously. Believe it or don’t believe it. You will find out for sure in less than 2 weeks. Good luck.
College Confidential has been very helpful and somewhat cathartic during the admissions process. However my biggest frustration is watching people try and read the tea leaves, changes to portals, or FA questions as some sort of sign. And then argue when someone tries to provide some actual insight. At least it’s almost over…
