Dartmouth RD 2025

Sorry to say, but an acceptance from Dartmouth seems very unlikely. If you don’t mind me asking, why no safety schools?

I’m International, so even if I could get accepted to a “safety school”, it’s not that likely that they will fund me. I’m asking for quite a lot of FA, so that’s been a huge problem so far. Also, I’m not in a rush to go to college this year, but I would really love it if I get accepted to one of the two Ivies I’m waiting to hear from.

Got you. There are only a handful of US schools that are need blind for international applicants. Yale is one of them, but Dartmouth is not. I hope things work out for you one way or the other.

Everything I have read says this is arguably the hardest year for international applicants. However, here is a bit of optimism for you. My son knows someone who, in a previous year, was rejected by Michigan, waitlisted at USC, and accepted into an Ivy. It happens.

Yeah, I’m worried for the financial aspect at Dartmouth. The other school I applied to is Princeton, which is need blind.

Yeah, it is a hard year for internationals. The thing is that schools want to admit those who would end up going to their school eventually. So with the pandemic, the financial aspect and the fact that I’m from a very small country, I understand I’m not the obvious choice for colleges. Thanks for the support! Let’s hope for the best tho

The schools that rejected you ,except for Yale , are definitely need aware for internationals. Dartmouth on the other hand, although officially need aware it behaves like a Need blind one. According to their latest common Data set , 61% of the Internationals receive need based aid with an average amount of about 68,900$ !!! This is second to Harvard. Therefore, the fact that Tufts , Pomona and CWRU rejected you does not mean that Dartmouth will . To be rejected by Yale or any Ivy is the rule anyway. So stay hopeful if you feel that you have a strong application.

Also visit Dartmouth’s site regarding their latest 3 Billion campaign, calltolead.com. One of the main objectives of this campaign is for Dartmouth to be again one of the only Six Need Blind institutions for Internationals.
So far they have raised 2,75 Billion. Hence, they can be really generous. My international daughter attends Dartmouth due to its generous Financial Aid.

Thank you!! I still have some hope.
For context, I have a 96.5 GPA with a full IB diploma coursework and a 1470 SAT (which I know is not the best for an Ivy, but it was the highest in my class). I’m my school’s Student Council president, MUN club president, school’s MUN Secretary-General and I have some other activities that include Tennis, volunteering initiatives, and national math contests. I think my essays were good and I hope for great rec letters. On the demographics side, I’m from Ecuador and male.
Do you think I stand a chance at the Ivies?

I had a 1470 and i didn’t submit it

My daughter was rejected by Harvard, Cornell, Brown, Northwestern, and Baylor. But she was accepted to Dartmouth.

Do ppl who don’t get interviews get in?

My daughter had no interview. Neither did her BF. Both got in. This was 4 years ago.

Not sure, but you will end up where you are meant to be. I tell my son the same thing everyday, as this process has him very very anxious. Good luck!!!

Your scores are definitely within range. However, keep in mind that the Dartmouth’s acceptance rate for the Internationals is about 3 to 3,5% according to their Factbook. Too many qualified applicants ( about 4,200 to 4,400 the last 2 years) ) for about 120 positions. This year it will be even more difficult due to the record number of applicants.

Am I correct in that 14.9% of the class of 2025 will be made up of 2024’s who took a gap year and another 50% were accepted ED? If so that leaves roughly 26K applicants for 35% of their incoming class of 1100? Can anyone confirm those figures?
