Dartmouth v NYU Stern BPE

Hi everyone, I got into 5 schools and I think I’ve narrowed it down to Dartmouth and NYU stern BPE.

To my understanding Dartmouth does very well in getting jobs in financing and banking, but Stern is obviously very well known for their high starting salaries and landing top position jobs to their graduates.
I’m an international student that needs to get a job ASAP after graduation. Which school is better for getting a job in the general financing/banking area? Also BPE is a fairly new program and it seems not many people, including me, don’t know too much about it. How hard is it to get in? How well recognized is it? I’ve heard it was modeled after Wharton, does anyone that perhaps know more about the program think it’s comparable to Wharton in its curriculum and in career prep?

Another career path I’m considering (not too closely related but still a major interest of mine) is law school.
Am I right to think that Dartmouth would be the better choice for an undergrad education prior to law school? Would it be ridiculous to go to Stern and then Dartmouth?

Two more optional questions–
It seems Dartmouth’s reputation is one where the students are close knit/homogenous…mostly white kids that enjoy frat basements. If you’re not into the Greek life, surely you’ll find other friends, but you won’t be a popular kid, and it’s esp. hard for an international like me. What do you guys think? What are some of the strongest sororities at Dartmouth?

My parents aren’t too happy with my acceptances and want me to consider taking a gap year and trying again next year. What should I do during that year to strengthen my application? Would it be worth it?

As an international, you will likely find more opportunities in NYC than Hanover. Dartmouth is a better school than NYU, but for your situation, Stern is likely a better match.

As for a gap year, both Dartmouth and NYU are great schools, and there is no guarantee that a gap year would improve your choices.
