NYU Stern BPE vs. Emory Goizueta

Hi everyone,

While I am making my decision between Stern and Emory, there are a couple of factors that I am not quite sure how to evaluate. I know that there are tons of other things to consider, and rest assured that I am not going to decide solely on these factors, but I was wondering if anyone could compare the two for:

Recruitment for Wall Street (I-banking most likely).

Does Emory's Atlanta location hurt for this? A Career Counselor at Emory told me most students stay in the Southeast because they want to, but would I find myself at a disadvantage in terms of a lack of recruiters?

Conversely, would employers take a Bachelors of Science in Business & Political Economy seriously? Dean Blount assured those at the BPE session that employers are very excited about the program, but there aren't any graduates of BPE with data to look at......Would switching to regular Stern for Finance (which we were told we could do) be the best of all? Or would having studied abroad in London and Shanghai look really impressive on a resume/make for a great interview conversation?

Grade inflation.

Would one be more difficult than the other? I know they both have curves. The vast amount of reading and research I have done seems to suggest that the extra finance-related competition at Stern makes it more difficult. Is this true, or not really?

On the other hand I suspect non-Stern NYU classes would be easier than non-Goizueta Emory classes, so this might raise my GPA.

Then again Dean Blount said Stern BPE was "the brightest of the brightest at NYU," so might this make classes taken with other BPE-ers even more difficult?

Thanks for reading this long-winded, confusing post. Any insight at all will be MUCH appreciated as I have to deposit by May 1st. I know these are two very different schools. I have visited both schools, and am weighing many different factors, including the two above. I just don't know exactly what to make of those two.

Thanks again.

Recruiting: Stern >> Goizueta. I’ve never heard Goizueta mentioned as a target school. Can’t comment on the particular degree within Stern. Studying abroad is definitely a good thing to talk about in an interview, Shanghai much more so than London I would think. I think Stern would be much more competitive because everyone is trying to getting into Wall Street, but that just comes with the territory of being at a target.

I would choose NYU stern
even though emory is a superior college compared to NYU, stern is a world renowned business school and it takes place in one of the business capitals of the world if not the business capital of the world, plus NYU stern student are recruited by many top level businesses
