So hey guys, it says that if I want to register for the orientation, I have to submit a statement of intent to register. What does that mean? Are there any drawbacks? Because I don’t even know if I really want to go to Davis or not. I just want to go through the orientation.

You can’t go to orientation if you don’t submit your SIR. Orientation is when you pick your classes and learn about the resources available

The orientations are in the summer. Will you be waiting that long before making your decision?

Also, orientation is only open to people who have accepted Davis’ offer of admission.

The SIR is your statement of intent to register. If you are not sure yet, I would save your $100 deposit fee until you have made a decision. Plus, orientation isn’t until summer so you have plenty of time to decide and register for orientation.

Definitely take your time choosing between the schools before submitting the SIR

Orientation is mandatory for freshmen… $150 if you drive in and leave every day (3 days)… $265 if you stay on campus (two nights, 3 days + 6 meals).

wow you have to pay more money for orientation? i didn’t know that =/ that sucks.

What happens if I can’t go to any of the orientation date for the college that I’m admitted to?

Have you already decided what college you want to choose? Many colleges require you to make a decision by May 1st. For UC Davis, if you can’t make it to the orientation, you’ll need to contact them to see if you can make any alternate plans

“What happens if I can’t go to any of the orientation date for the college that I’m admitted to?”

You select your classes during orientation. If you miss orientation, then I suspect you will be last to get your classes, after they have all been picked over.
