I've gotten the option to sign up and register for the UC Davis orientation. I sent my SIR into UCD because they accepted me, but I'm waiting to hear what UCSD and UCI say to my application because im on the waitlist...

that being said, should I go to the orientation? or should I skip it since i might not even go there. Is the orientation only for people who are for sure going to that certain school? and if i DO go to the orientation, can I still withdrawl SIR and send it to one of the school's that accepted me off the waitlist?

I think it’s totally up to you. I’m pretty sure you can withdrawal SIR as long as meet the deadline. It doesn’t really matter whether you attend orientation. You won’t get refund for deposit that you paid for accept SIR tho. However, I heard that waitlisted for UCSD are about 3000 pplz. So good luck to you!

You don’t have to go to orientation unless you want to - and of course if you have classes you REALLY want to register for, you’ll want to go since the earliest shot you get at registering is at around 5pm.

TaLLLuDWiG718: I’m in the same situation too! I’m currently waitlisted in UCSD… I got accepted to UCI and UCD but I SIRed to UCD. I’m torn about the housing though, did you deposit for the SHA in UCD?

Yeah, I signed up for the June 28th orientation. I got waitlisted to UCSD and UCI but at this point after submitting my June 1 deadline stuff I’m basically like ‘screw UCI’. I’ll switch to UCSD if I get into that though. Are you sending your final transcripts, AP scores, etc. to UCD too? or are you going to wait until you get the waitlist decision back?

I’m thinking of waiting till the waitlist decision comes out but if it takes too long I’ll be sending the transcripts, etc to UCD. Whats your major btw? and about housing did you sign up for the student housing apartments and make a deposit already? I know the deadline is today but I just haven’t decided yet.

@adriecalli I’m on the waitlist for UCSD but I sent my SIR to UCD and I also made my housing deposit for the res halls. You can still get your deposit back if you decide to go to a different school but I think if you wait too long they might only give you a portion back.

im just going to wait until i hear from UCD partly because they didn’t ask for them and also i have a lot of transcripts to send from different CCC

@uchappytrain: when did you make your housing deposit? I thought the res halls are all filled up after May 8th or something by the freshmans? I just put in my deposit for the student housing apartments today since its the only option left for transfer students. Do you know if we can get refunded if we still go to UCD but wanted to change to privatized apts instead after depositing?

@adriecali I did my housing application really early on, so there were still spots in the res halls available. I was happy about it until I saw the fees for the 2012-2013 school year, they went up so much! I’m pretty sure you have until June 30th to get your deposit back in full but after that they might penalize you for waiting too long. I might be wrong about the June 30th date though, so you should call and confirm.

@uchappytrain: oh thanks! yeah the fees were so expensive! I just deposited for the student housing apartments and now I just realized the price is quite unreasonable, so i just might switch to privatized apartments instead. Its so hard to decide anything really with the waitlist “waiting” still going on.

^Housing is guaranteed for transfer students, I’d assume there is still room. Does it ever actually fill 100%? I heard last year some doubles were converted to singles. I do know all the singles are already taken though.

I don’t mind having a double I would actually prefer it cuz it’s cheaper, but UCD said that they also guaranteed housing and their residence halls filled up. now there are only student apartments left which are more expensive. luckily I got a spot in the residence halls before they were full

but I was wondering if UCSD still has spots available for The Village, or if they were in a similar situation as UCD and only had student apartments left.

UCHappyTrain im in the same boat as you. I got accepted to UCD so I SIR’d there. I am waitlisting UCSD as well as UCI but recently decided that I probably won’t go to UCI because it’s just too much effort. I WANT TO GET INTO UCSD
