Orientation question

On the orientation homepage, it says:

So does that mean that even if I haven’t confirmed whether I want to register to UC Davis or not yet, I can still go to orientation?

no, orientation is for the students who have said ‘yes’ and submitted their SIR. At orientation, you take some placements tests, meet with counselors for your major, register for your classes, as well as get familiar with the campus, etc. You can sign up for campus tours if you want to get a feel for it before you submit the SIR.

@ jbourne: placement tests during orientation are only for incoming freshmen. Transfers don’t have to take placement tests.

@ jbourne: then what does the “regardless of their SIR status” mean? Notice how for freshman, it says “all first years who have submitted their SIR” and for transfers, it says “regardless of their SIR status.” I’m a transfer.

sorry, I didn’t know you were a transfer.

that’s why I bolded the transfer part.

@sweetlacecharm: I submitted my SIR yesterday and I’m still unable to sign up for Orientation. I’m a transfer student. I get this message:

“According to our records, your admission status does not allow you to make an Orientation reservation at this time. Please check that you have successfully submitted your Statement of Intent to Register (SIR) prior to making a reservation. If you have already submitted your SIR and are still receiving this message, please call the Orientation Office at (530) 752-4443.”

I’m probably going to have to call tomorrow. Let me know if you’re able to sign up.

my sister was able to sign up for orientation, and she submitted her SIR.
