Days on the Lawn - What do I miss if I don't go?

Long story short, I was supposed to go to Echols DOTL but I dislocated my elbow leaving me at home for awhile. I was hoping to make it to another DOTL but complications and schedule conflict came up so I doubt I can make it to any of them.

So all in all - do I miss anything important? I've been to UVa campus multiple times (brother went there) and have a grasp of what everything's about and what not.

Tell me. Tell me everything you want to tell me.

You have the website, which includes the schedule…that pretty much spells out what you’d be missing. If you are undecided, I think it’s very helpful.

Can’t believe this. We had no idea we had to register for DOTL and were planning on hitting three colleges next week on spring break so my daughter could decide. Yesterday, we received an e-mail from UVA that we had to REGISTER for the days, but when we went to do so both days (Monday/Friday) were booked! We had been planning on hitting Charlottesville on Monday, Durham (Dooook) on Tues, and on to Georgia Tech for a Thurs session. This throws our plans into a total mess. Sure wish we had gotten this notification in the acceptance package.

Kamaro, I’ve already replied to your posts on my blog. If you have already made travel reservations, we can probably accommodate you. Please call us tomorrow or email me directly and give me all the pertinent info.

FWIW, there was [a DOTL invite in the admit package](http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_j0_WBUT8_cw/R-hdDIieZ4I/AAAAAAAAAHI/R1oGd9FDnhE/s400/DOTL.JPG). It has all the RSVP information in it.

The Echols DOTL last weekend was taking walk-up registration and all the events were open. I don’t see why someone couldn’t have simply walked into the sessions. In fact, my S pre-registered and somehow they had no record of it, so technically we were walk-ups, I guess.

Obviously they can’t announce that publicly. It looks like you’ll be accommodated, so it may be moot.

The Echols/Rodman/CSS group isn’t as big as a normal DOTL group. We can easily handle the scholars.

Really we have to register formally! I need to reread the e-mail. thanks for the info.

If you show up without RSVPing, your student may not have many options for classes to sit in on.

While we would never say you aren’t allowed to come without registering, but we tried to push you to go to the registration website. From the invitation that was in your offer package:

While I’m at it, let me encourage you to pay close attention to the directions for parking. We are not validating for the Central Grounds Garage in April. We have rented out the garage at the intersection of Emmet & Ivy Streets.

Just to wrap this up, Kamaro had already emailed us a few times the other day and his daughter was registered.
