Days On The Lawn

Hello Hoo's,

I thought it would be a good idea to start a thread dedicated to DOTL. If you want, post what date you'll be attending and maybe what you'll be wearing (so we pick each other out :D )

I'll be attending the April 8th DOTL and am beyond excited! I look forward to meeting future classmates there!

HOOOOOO are you?
<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r5kmCgVhADY%5B/url%5D">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r5kmCgVhADY</a></p>

I’m going to the Scholar’s Day thing on the 9th. Do you think it’ll be any different from the regular Days on the Lawn? Should I attend both? haha. And I got invited to that darn diversity thing. Why do colleges think that hanging out with more minorities would make me more eager to attend? If I went there, I wouldn’t hang out with exclusively minorities. So it’s not a selling point to me.

micah - I remember reading a post by Dean J that the Scholar’s DOTL and the regular DOTL are not very different. I believe she said there were a few minor differences, such as a few different speakers.

Saturday April 9th - UVA is playing UNC in lacrosse. That is an amazing match up. Does anyone know if I can get tickets at the door, or if I have to order them online (or what you think the best option would be).

Is it too late to register? I am trying to sign up right now and it is asking for my last name and User ID. Which ID do I use?

http://people.virginia.edu/~jdl5s/Reservation/home.php</a></p>

Above where it asks for your login info it says registration is full?

You should be able to get tickets at door. They UVA a hillside where they can fit in lots of folks, so game will not be sold out

Your user ID is the one that has your initials at the front of it. :)

BTW, Spring Fling and Spring Blast are a traditional that many students love and they are basically DOTL + a few extras. There are some who aren’t interested in it, but others who love it. None of these programs (DOTL, Scholars’ Day, Spring Fling/Blast) are mandatory…if you want to visit, we hope you pick the one that fits with your schedule. :)

Alright well now I enter in my last name and User ID and click submit, but then the page doesn’t go anywhere and I am left with the same page with no information entered… this is annoying.

I’m going to the UVA vs UNC game on Saturday after DOTL. Should be amazing!

Also, is anyone else wearing UVA gear to DOTL. Is it premature to be walking around in all UVA clothes before I’m officially a student? :D

Ok so I guess registration is full? This sucks.

Dean J any advice on this? I have the same question as NJDevils2, but is it just cause of this: “We are so glad you want to visit U.Va.! Due to space limitations at some of our venues, we need to limit the number of registrants per day. In the event that registration has closed, you are more than welcome to visit on any other day.” Should I just try registering tomorrow? I want to register for 4/22. Thanks

Honestly, it has been what, 10 days since acceptance, and I am still just beyond happy. I can’t wait for DOTL. I’m driving Thursday and eating dinner on campus. Then attending DOTL and spending the night again. And on Saturday going to the UVA vs UNC lacrosse game. Should be a fantastic time! I look forward to seeing everyone :D!

I’ve asked the DOTL coordinator for an update. I’ll let you all know what I hear.

On another thread, I linked to the Plan a Visit website, where students can plan their own day, outside of DOTL. There are open class lists, tours of different departments, and a link to the Monroe Society, which schedules overnight visits. I hope that helps!

Does anyone have any advice on the overnight visits? I’m debating doing one, but it just seems like it will be too awkward.

8th (overnight) and 9th! Holy ****, I finally meet UVAorBust! What are you going to wear? You should have a name tag.

Also, I’m going to stay overnight the night before, so you should do that too.

God i wanna come too :'(

Is there any way to choose who we stay with for the night? I have a lot of friends, and they have similar interests so I feel I will enjoy my time a lot more with them.

I’m not doing an overnight on campus, but I’ll be staying overnight at a hotel :(.

WAIT---------

Dean J is a “she”?
I would have never guessed.
Thats pretty cool.

btw, Im black, so I will be doing the “Spring Fling” which coincides with the DOTL on the 8th, so I will be staying overnight for 2 nights.

UVAorBust if you’re going to come to UVa, please be aware that you will be murdered for using the word “campus.” It’s grounds. You will be on grounds.

Also, it’s extremely easy to do an overnight visit for anyone who’s wondering. Google “Monroe Society.” Or hell, just go to this page [Monroe Society](http://sites.google.com/site/themonroesociety/) and sign up.
