DD lost cell phone on campus

DD, rising high-school senior, is on campus for Crimson Band Camp this week. Rushing through the lunchtime storm on Tuesday, on their way from Moody Music Building to Burke Hall for lunch, the phone somehow slipped out of her pocket. She retraced her steps later that day, but she hasn’t been able to find the phone.

I’ve called the Supe, Ferg Center, and the UA Police Department, but the phone hasn’t been turned in anywhere yet. DH and I plan on scouring the route between Moody and Burke tomorrow when we get to campus. We also have to file a police report for insurance purposes.

I sent a text to the phone, “thanking” whoever might find it and asking them to return it to the Moody building. Hopefully somebody will find it or has found it and will think to look through the text messages. The phone has been deactivated so they can’t use it to make calls, send texts, or access the internet.

I sure hope somebody will be nice and turn it in somewhere so we can get it back!

Call the Crimson Ride (if your D went on that). Son has lost his twice on CR and they found it.

Did she sit anywhere?

Did she change her clothes?

Did she go to the Rec Center?

If the phone has been deactivated, can they still read the texts???

Tip for future…put your family’s home phone number on the outside of the phone in some location.

My son lost his phone on a campus visit and the Supe store found it on the floor. They called our home.

Yes, even though it’s deactivated, if somebody finds it and it still has a charge, they’ll be able to access her contacts list (I’m in there as Mom, and dh is in there as Dad) and her texts. They can’t access her voice mails, because those are password protected.

She’s sure she lost it on the run between Moody and Burke. She remembers putting it in her pocket just before they left Moody and realized right after they got to Burke that it wasn’t in her pocket anymore.

Although, even if it’s found, if it spent that much time in a pouring rainstorm, it may be completely ruined! We’ll comb the route between the buildings tomorrow, as well as inside the building, having her retrace her steps.

Not trying to steal the thread or anything but I want to point out that parents should send their child to college with an extra cell phone. That way, if they do happen to lose their phone somehow they will not be phoneless for the time it takes to bring them/ship them a different phone.

I do not know about other phones but my phone has an app that allows you to track its location I am sure you probably tried that. Mine did work once when I lost it
