Just wondering about submitting materials online,
Do they not let you submit materials 1 hour after the deadline?
If the deadline is Nov. 15th, can I submit an application by 12pm of Nov. 15th?

Thanks!

A Nov 15 deadline means, if on-line, by the end of Nov 15. However:

Because there are far too many who wait till the last minute, the college's computers tend to overload, shut-down and not accept receipt of apps sent in the last hour. College's usually give the procrastinators a break on that but they are not required to.

Far too many discover for some colleges, just as they are getting to the end of completing the app at 11:30 at night that there is a form at the end of the app that needs to be filled out, signed, and mailed by Nov 15 by the high school counselor (high schools and high school counselors aren't around to do that at 11:30 p.m. on the deadline date).

The app may not be the only thing that has to be sent by Nov 15 to be considered as applying by Nov 15. School may require that test scores, recommendations, and transcripts, all be postmarked by Nov 15. Thus, one better be absolutely certain of what the school actually requires to be sent by Nov 15.

Thanks for your thorough answer, Drusba.
One more question: If the college is on the east coast and you live on the west coast, do they take the time difference (as small as it may be) into account?

You have a few days' time.

This is what I'd do:

Deceive my brain into thinking that the deadline is Nov. 12th.

Finish the application.

Not worry about the deceived brain.

If you are worried about something specific like school forms, email admissions. I emailed Lehigh's admissions about the Nov. 15th deadline, and they replied:

Thanks for your recent message, and it won't pose any problems or concerns if your recommendations arrive a few days after the November 15th ED deadline. In fact, we find that most ED applications become complete within two weeks of the deadline.

Good news for me. haha.

But everything you need to fill out yourself should definitely be sent at least a day before the deadline to be safe.

No the time difference isn't taken into account. Just get it done.
Write it, fedex it, do whatever you have to do to get the thing in on time.
