deadline looming...

My daughter is still waiting for the dreaded "waiver review / pending" line on her DoDMERB page to (hopefully) turn to "waiver granted." A few questions for those who have BTDT:

We have tried to wait patiently (been in the DoDMERB loop since 1 August 2007), but is it time to start calling? If we don't hear anything before 1 March, does it become too late to have additional tests done (for an appeal) if the waiver isn't granted?

If a waiver hasn't been granted by the March 1 deadline, what (if anything) happens to her LOA and the spot that's being "held" for her?

Thanks!

I'll do some checking, but I believe (any other BGOs out there?) that if their application is complete and only waiting on a DODMERB reply, nothing else has to be done. Has she been notified that futher testing or referrals are needed, have they been completed? This should be a top priority.

The 1 March deadline is for applicants to complete the application process (BGO interviews, noms, PFE, HS paperwork, etc). From what I understand, your daughter has completed all of this.

She could contact her BGO and see what their records are showing. We are not permitted to get involved in an applicant's DODMERB issues, but our records do indicate if the process has been completed, rejected, etc.

All of her application package has been complete since last July/August, and she received her LOA in October. She received a MOC nomination in December.

Her original medical exam was done 1 August, and received at DoDMERB on 7 August. Additional medical remedial information (Pulmonary Function Test) was requested in mid-December, and the completed test data was received at DoDMERB on 10 January (all perfectly normal).

I would sit tight. This is a very busy time for DODMERB (both service academy and ROTC applicants are being processed...it's crunch time). If you haven't heard anything by early March I would make a call.

10 Jan seems like a long time ago, but a month in DODMERB time is like a few days. These are the days of nail biting, Prilosec and wearing a path to the mailbox...best of luck to your daughter!

My status on DODMERB has said "Pending/Waiting Submission Review" or whatever for a long time. Status has not changed since September 24th, but my MOC just sent in his nominations on 30-JAN. It seems like I check DODMERB almost every day to see if I have gotten a waiver.

The March 1 deadline and the DODMERB clearance are unrelated. March 1 is the deadline for candidates to complete their packets. Medical qualification can come much later and your daughter still receive her appointment. I am aware of one candidate who had surgery in the winter and had to wait 6 months after surgery to ensure he was medically qualified. That didn't clear until early June. He got in, no problems.

I have to stretch a bit back but I seem to recall the waiver was posted about the same time as the appointment arrived. Correct me if I am wrong on this, but I seem to recall (admissions briefing during the CVW) that the academy is limited in terms of the number of candidates it can admitt with waivers- therefore waivers are given similtaneous to the offer of appointment.

Hang in. In this case, no news is still good news for now.

I'm in the same boat, except for a Vision Waiver.

Yeah, I found out that I got disqualified for history or eczema. And now I have to wait for a waiver to go through.
