On the University of California website, it states that (I am looking at UCSC) I can complete the 60 units "prior to enrollment".

Does this mean I can take my first English course this coming spring and finish the second one over the summer, and still be eligible for admission?

When I emailed UCSC, they said otherwise that the 60 units must be completed by spring.

I just want to make sure....

Thanks.

finish at least 60 units by spring to be on the safe side

No, you can’t. English Composition courses must be completed by the end of the Spring semester prior to admission. However, if you are on the quarter system, you can still take English 1A in the winter and then English 1B, or whatever it is called at your CC, in the spring. I think Foothill still has several spots left in their online composition courses FYI…

Or if you are on the semester system, and your CC has a fast-paced English 1A course during the winter session, you can take that one, and then take 1B in the spring. English Composition are one of the absolute core requirements for admission to the UCs, so I seriously doubt any UC would be lenient for your case…
