For schools that don't have an online application,
do you know whether the school's deadline is the day it is POSTMARKED by, or the time that it arrives?

They're not the IRS, I believe they want to have received the application by the due date. How particular or steadfast they hold to that request , give a day or two, I don't know and prefer not to find out the hard way.

ops, they want it POSTMARKED on or by the due date. It says so all over the apps.

DHL it on the 14th in Korea time...

or 13th if you really wanna be safe.

yeah tom's right. but for schools where I'm writing the application and sending them in, I'd rather do it the way I mentioned, not only to look all organized and stuff for the schools, but because some schools say they want the application in by the 15th, not sure if it's postmarked or not

westcoast,
if I DHL it on the 14th in Korean time,
would it arrive on time?
I was thinking FedEx Express International mail.
I know for sure that Hotchkiss is by the postmark date...

i believe it has to be POSTMARKED by the 15th, but call the school just in case.

I really don't think I should CALL the schools...
its not even a week until the deadline,
and they're probably busy...
I'm gonna stay safe and try to send everything so that it arrives on the 15th.
Thank goodness for DHL and FedEx Express...

Ya, I just handed everything in before my tours and interviews, but I did them pretty late and already knew I would be applying to the schools.

mpicz, that must be the most wonderful feeling in the world, not worrying about applications.
sigh.

The application has to be postmarked by the 15th. Otherwise, it would not be fair if their was a problem with a delivery once the application was out of your hand's and it therefore arrived late. As long as you put it in the mail before the 15th, you'll be fine. They'll stamp the date on the envelope and the admissions officers will be able to tell if it was on time.

Thank you (:

the package would arrive on time because technically -technically!- it's the 13th when you send it on the 14th in korean time. dhl is known for getting things in within TWO days, or else they're not dhl, they're expensive. so yes, it would arrive on the 15th for shureee.

wheres dhl in korea??
i cant find one anywhere. ):

It varies by school, so read the admissions materials carefully. Some require that materials be received by the deadline; others say postmarked.

What self-respecting school would throw respect for unforeseeable events to the wind and require that materials be received by the deadline? What, are they all of a sudden able to predict whether or not a letter will get lost in the mail or be the victim of a mail strike?

When they say postmarked by the 15th, do they mean that you have to put it in your mailbox to get it mailed out ON the 15th, or before the 15th? Talking mainly about Exeter and Loomis Chaffee.

When mail is processed it is date-stamped as proof of its mailing date. That is what postmarking is.

I'm wondering whether or not it means by/on the 15th, or has to be by the 15th. Ok, what the heck, I'll most likely finish tomorrow night at the rate I'm working at.

I'm not done either!! (but close) starts pulling hair out and screaming

I wrote sooooooo many drafts, but I drastically changed a lot of the essays.

by the way, what did you think of the SPS questions?

I have a feeling if you nail their essays and erveything else checks out you have a good chance of getting in. Along with all the other things of course
