I am a new student at DeAnza and I was hoping to take the better teachers (using ratemyprofessors.com as a partial guide) however ALL the good teachers are full and because I am a new student I have to register last. I can get on a waitlist but what if I don't get the class? What should I do? Take not as good teachers but at least take the right classes or get waitlisted and show up the first day and be persistent? Thank You I would love to hear from other students about how easy/difficult it is to be added to a full class and whether or not I should take the risk.

you change colleges for a quarter to foothill and shop around for teachers, jess. i go to de anza, so you can pm me if you want.

just crash the class and add on the first day

but what I am worried is that 20 students have the exact same idea of crashing the course, although I would be determined to be first in line.

The safe bet is to register with the "not so good" professors, and then see if you can add the class after they start. If you find that you can add, with the better prof, then do that and drop the bad prof. But you should definitely register for the classes you need, despite the fact that they may not be with the profs that you desire.

that is what I was planning on doing but the registration system won't let me sign up for the class with one teacher and get on the waitlist for another professor.

just take any available classes......

i go to de anza too..you can pm jess if you have any q's

me too, wow a lot of de anza folks. =)

Add me to the list of those at de anza.

did you already take counseling 100? You have to take that before you can register for classes...else you'll have to wait till the last registration date (the official registration date)

oh yeah and about adding classes...when I went to add into the counseling 100 class I wanted (which was the earliest possible class session) I was added easily as well as 2 other people. It's not that bad, I think.

counseling 100??? what's that all about

are all you guys comin to de anza for the first time this quarter?

Yea, I am. I took classes over the summer to get ahead though. I took counseling 100 last week and I signed up for classes already. I think we were the first set of counseling group, right behind all the athletes that gets priority registration. how about you bearclaw15? Any tips/advices about de anza that people want to share? Easy/fun classes/professors that you recommend taking?

if my current date to register is 9/5. and the only couns100 seesion available now starts 9/5, it's pointless for me to take it right?

no, you're required to take it. it's not an option. they won't let you sign up for classese unless you're enrolled in a couseling course or have already completed one.

even if I have 84.5 semester units from another community college?

oh, then i suppose not.

heres what the de anza site says.
