Debate!!!

uc_benz, you were the one who questioned Kerry's records. Were you claims true? Lets see:

<a href="http://factcheck.org/article231.html%5B/url%5D">http://factcheck.org/article231.html</a></p>

I suppose Republicans are really honest people. Or are they?
<a href="http://factcheck.org/article246.html%5B/url%5D">http://factcheck.org/article246.html</a>
<a href="http://factcheck.org/article272.html%5B/url%5D">http://factcheck.org/article272.html</a> (this also criticizes Edwards, but notice that they stressed on Cheney more)
<a href="http://factcheck.org/article247.html%5B/url%5D">http://factcheck.org/article247.html</a></p>

This is just to enlighten you. I do not intend to give out a list of websites for you to read and I will do less of it as the debate progesses.

whoa this thread has been going strong since i last came, but i'm back!
good points made by Primitive and others

as usual ElCommando is making no sense and BCgoUSC is pretending to be jesus.

a few specific things that stuck out....

And I'm not going to read your mindless copying-and-pasting binge. If you want to have a structured debate I would gladly participate, but if you're going to copy and paste thousands of characters then it's a waste of my time.

[/quote]

2 or 3 people on the pro-bush side said this... all i have to say is, are you joking? you ask someone to give you proof and he does... then you dont read it. thats cool....
a debate like this SHOULD be backed up with facts... you guys are being ridiculous: primitive made an argument, you said "back it up", so he did, with VERY valid facts. who the hell cares if he cut and paste, all the quotes were cited! (and no one on CC has the time to make that list on their own... we're all trying to get into college here!!)

And Hilary, I can not believe that your church has an openly homosexual minister. It deeply saddens me that churches can now have ministers who openly live a sinful life.

ok god, thank you.
yes, clearly this pastor is going to hell. it is terrible to devote your life to helping people. next week im going on a retreat that he's leading to work for habitat for humanity. that is what we sinners like to do.

A lot of things are not mentioned in the 10 commandments, but the idea of having extramarital affairs is, and with homosexuality being outlawed, a gay relationship, even if monogomout, is still extramarital. Also murder is in the 10 commandments, but we don't outlaw abortion. I am curious as to whether you are pro choice or pro life to see if all of your opinions are in agreeance.

the majority of people have sex outside of marriage anyways, buddy.
and you cant force people to be catholics... catholics do not own the priviledge of marriage.
and last i checked catholics were against abortion as well as any form of birth control.
...cool, then dont do it yourself, but i couldnt care less what you think about MY right to choose.

and lastly, hhboyji, dont ever let anybody tell you who you are or what you can or cant be! :)

How can any self-respecting conservative support Bush after his catastrophic expansion of entitlements ($600 billion in first few years alone drug benefit anyone?), his gross fiscal irresponsibility, his attacks on states rights, or the fastest expanision of government since Lyndon Johnson?

I sure can't

I don't really approve of premarital sex, but I think that the law can't enforce it. It obviously is against the constitution and the bill of rights. I don't like it and think that we're morally obligated to not do it, there is a big difference between ethics and law. Also why is turning into a religious thread? Have you not been aware that a significant portion of the nation is not christian including me? This is politics not theology .

good question.

i think its because the pro-bush people (oh and bush too) try to turn everything in to a religious issue becuase they have no real argument without it.

hilary, I agree.

When in doubt, say God made me do it.....

But there is no evidence showing they were gay from birth. Right? So why wouldnt you follow the Bible.

"And primitivefuture, continue hiding behind your user name. Your habitual attempts to create conflict aren't going to go over well when you enter the real world. Just a word of advice."

Hmmm thats true...I wonder why he wanted to have a debate online when he could go have one at school if he just found the Republican club on campus.

last i checked, you were participating in this debate too.

I think this is getting personal. A debate is a debate no further primitvefuture might be doing something like homework or ECs maybe?
is there any evidence that they weren't gay from birth? nothing is proven so you can't just enforce your ways.
ALso the MANY AREN'T CHRISTIAN OK?
how do you know if the bible is true? you're like those people in TN who ban teachers from teaching evolution in the classroom.

Yeah, I'm in this debate too, but I'm not personally attacking people who don't agree with me. That is what primitive is doing. I challenge him to go on the streets and say some of the stuff he has said on this thread and the Dartmouth one and see what kind of reaction he gets. I guarantee he would get his ass kicked.

ok but do you have a response to my last 2 posts?

"i think its because the pro-bush people (oh and bush too) try to turn everything in to a religious issue becuase they have no real argument without it."

Religion and politics are becoming more and more intertwined, especially sinec GOPers, both in gov't and on this board make it an issue.
RELGION AND POLITICS ARE SEPERATE PEOPLE

Thomas Jefferson said that religion and state is separate. Also parts of European history is the struggle to separate state and religion. Mixing it together is like so medieval.

hm no one is responding, guess that means we win :)

Yeah, religion and politics are seperate. That's why God is mentioned in numerous places throughout important government documents, right?

The funny thing is that no where in the constitution does it mention the separation of church and state.

-mentioning God in a government document is very different from imposing the beliefs of the church on political issues.

-God doesnt belong to a specific religion, nearly all religions have some sort of god. (atheists are probably, rightfully, irritated by this)

-a lot of those documents were written before there was a separation of church and state

Oh I'm sorry, I forgot that there were advocates of USJ ( United States of Jesusland) on this board.
Why are religion and politics seperate? Well, that (along with a number of reasons) has made the U.S. the powerr that it is today. The religious right is threaening to destroy the foundation of what this country was based on: Equality for all, whether it be for homosexual people or women.
Now, does anyone honestly believe that religion has a positive role in politics?

The Constitution had 55 people work upon it, of which 52 were Evangelical Christians.

34% of over 15,000 pieces of literature published by the Founding Fathers referenced the Bible.

.....well theres this other little thing called the bill of rights... maybe you've heard of it?
