Prompt:
-Background on technological advancement and its impact
"Do changes that make our lives easier not necessarily make them better?

It is true that technological advancement lead to the development of new and better products. Although these products have made the lives of many more efficient, they lead to greater pressure for people, turn jobs into a systematic process and cause a loss of social intimacy.

Having better resources means having an advantage in the task a person is trying to accomplish. This means that they are not expected to complete the task with less time necessary. For example, teachers who allow graphing calculators to be utilized during an exam, will add more questions to the exam or give less time. During finals week, I had a physics department exam. My teacher had waited until a specific time to finally hand out the test. This was done so that the test wouldn't be too easy since we had the technological resource of a calculator.

One technological innovation that led to mass production was the assembly line. Before the industrial revolution in the nineteenth century, America was still mainly composed of farmers, merchant and fishermen. With the industrial age to commence, cities grew and factories evolved. From working as what the person knew how to do best, the assembly line created a new definition for the word "work". People had a sense of their own profession but with this invention, many were hired to complete tasks they did not even feel passionate about. The sense of having a job went from a personal preference to a mechanical procedure.

One of the revolutionary technological innovation in the 21st century which became a part of the lives of millions, was Facebook. This social network, created by Mark Zuckerberg, gathered people together: friends, family and co-workers. It revolutionized how people interacted with one another. Although making interaction faster, a sense of social intimacy was lost as people instant messaged instead of talking on the phone or posted digital pictures rather than having it in a real photo album.

Technological changes do not necessarily improve the way people live. Innovation can create stress, let people lose a sense of purpose in their profession and make social interaction almost non existent. Changes can ,indeed, be detrimental to people's lives.

The part about "make social interaction almost non existent" seems very exaggerated but i was rushed.
