December 09 Biology Discussion

I’m a sophomore, and took bio last year…so just thought i’d take the bio test since I had just learned the material…

yeah, i put test cross as the one with the blank. that one stumped me though for a few seconds…I thought it was a trick question or something.

Yeah that was test cross.

I applied to Columbia ED as a bio major - I submitted my 740 Math II and 740 Bio that I got earlier. I just retook these because I KNOW I could get much better, and if I don’t get into Columbia, I need a better score anyway. But here’s hoping I DO get in, and I can simply disregard this.

Okay another stupid mistake - which type of bond is it in the secondary structure of protein? Is it ionic?

Edit: Nevermind, it’s hydrogen. ■■■.

Wasn’t the test cross AAxAa?

I took it because I need a science next to my Math 2. I’m taking AP Physics right now, so I didn’t think I was adequately prepared for that. However, I took AP Bio last year so most of the info was fresh. I just needed some review.

I’m SO THANKFUL that they didn’t ask many plan questions. Gymnosperms and Angiosperms… I hate you.

why is it AAxAa there was one like AAxaa and AaxAa? how bout the AaxA_?

Angio/Gymnosperms are rarely ever there. Only Barron’s even focuses on them. It’s supposed to be A_ x aa because you’re trying to find if the first allele is dominant or recessive. The best way to test for that is by breeding it with something with a homozygous recessive allele - that would mean that if the A_ is AA, all the offspring will display the dominant trait. If, however, the A_ is Aa, then 50% of the offspring will display the recessive allele.

w8 why would the test cross be AA x Aa?

amen to that zens.

damn you kingdom plantae

definition of
testcross: a cross between an organism whose genotype for a certain trait is unknown and an organism that is homozygous recessive for that trait

hopeful do you remember any questions?

Hi guys,
Pepsin does partially digest enzymes so it was the right answer for the last one. BUT Trypsin is the enzyme produced in the pancreas that deals with proteins in the digestive system. From wikipedia:
Trypsin (EC 3.4.21.4) is a serine protease found in the digestive system of many vertebrates, where it hydrolyses proteins.[2] Trypsin is produced in the pancreas as the inactive proenzyme trypsinogen.

Also, what did you guys get for the skull question? I put only II for one of them because I thought the jaw size was decreasing and head size was increasing. For most similar I put, Homo Habilis and another one…

yea zz i got those two, did you get 6 for a answer?

GODDAMIT I put that at first but changed it to pepsin after…

for the similar ones, they were the two skulls that both started with “homo ____”

rawkfist: lol, i’m having trouble remembering questions, but i definitely remember answers… :stuck_out_tongue: sorry!
I guess, if I had had time to check over my work, I might have retained more questions…

Three skulls started with homo lol. I put the 2nd to the right and the bottom middle.

yeah, but the answer choices only included one answer in which both the skulls were both homo

tell me some answers hopefull

I need the questions lol to know the answers!
or vice versa, i can remember what the question was asking, if you tell me the answers… lol
