Regarding “superscoring”, I was under the impression that why you can’t pick and choose, which scores from which test dates to send, the schools do that for you. This is just my assumption, not based on fact or official school statements.

Wonder if schools see number wrong/number skipped…because there are plenty of routes to a 99…

Thanks Divealive! Well I think that reading is definitely my strength and not math…but I still found the test much more difficult than in the practice tests. I actually don’t think I got a really really good score in reading based on my scaled score alone (773) - it wasn’t that much higher than my math score. But I guess it’s just who you are compared to. Most people are better at math, and fewer are better at reading.

Main Idea: Right 15 Wrong 0 Omitted 1
Higher Order: Right 23 Wrong 1 Omitted 0

I cant believe im still 97% total when my reading was so messed up…
oh well.
(english is not my first language, and i got 800 on the verbal. It was so much easier than the preactice tests though.)

Oh wow thats amazing! Good job!! Few people get 800 when English IS their first language haha. Rolopolo - great job too (99% on verbal wow!)
Congrats everyone!
(I’m in such a good mood right now it’s not funny)

Your scores are great! Right now I would just focus on finishing your essays and submitting the applications.

I mean if you really feel strongly enough that you can seriously improve your score, go for it! But personally I wouldn’t want to spend the large chunk of cash and put myself through the stress of the SSATs again.

yeah, that’s what i was thinking… and i’ll be doing all my campus tours and interviews during the week before january 8th… not to mention that im going to be jet-lagged AND school starts on the 10th and i’ll be so worn out… sigh…

do you think my reading percentile will affect me? (i got 85%)

im not worried about my overall percentile, just mainly the individual ones =(

My boy got 93rd percentile in the November test and he is retaking it in January. When he took the test, he did not prepare and did not even know what the test was about. I hope that they would not change the level of difficulty as this will be unfair. The test needs to be consistent though there has been grade inflation over the last 20 years.

Why didn’t he prepare? He’s supposed to get familiar with what types of questions are asked and at least do a couple of timed practice tests. For many kids that’s all they need to get good scores. Some who are particularly bad at standardized tests may want more prep. 93% is a respectable score especially considering he “did not even know what the test was about”, but you seem unhappy. How is this related to “grade inflation over the last 20 years”?

hey guys…
i got my scores in, and overall i got an 89%

Verbal - 80%
Math - 92%
Reading - 85%

I am a male currently in 8th grade, and am applying to Taft, Loomis, and possibly Westminster. What are your guys’ thoughts on this score? I think i should definately retake it, but my mom says that ohh its ok and im in the “top 11%” of all the kids who took it.

remembrance, you’re already in/above the range of schools you’re applying to
loomis’s average was 80 last year, and tafts is probably mid-80s, so i think you’re fine

Alright, well, one last thing. If i retake it, they will take the higher scores from each category (math, verbal, reading), and they will NOT average them together, correct? Im hoping that they dont average, in case something were to go wrong.
