I wasn't sure on the Portugal one, but I personally put because the Ottoman's constricted trade, which I felt was true because the sudden shift to the Age of Exploration occured after Byzantine's fall in 1453 and coinciding with the full domination of the Ottoman's, so I reasoned that the Ottoman's then prevented the Europeans from continuing to trade w/ Asia and thus that's why the explorers sought the sea routes (and found America and etc.)

yeah. it was ottomans restricting land routes.

What did you guys put for the Japanese 20th century resentment problem?

Saint Paul & Saint Benedict..what did they each do?

I said Saint Benedict instituted a orderly code of conduct for Monks (he was called the "Rule Giver") and that Saint Paul spread Christianity beyond the Jewish People.

As for Japan, that is because in the 20th century to help them rebuild, the US allowed Japan to have a favorable balance of trade, which means that they export more than they import, thus creating a stronger economy. The choice on the test was just a shorter version of what I just said.

Saint Paul spread Christianity outside of community
St. Benedict monastary rules

What did everyone put for Treaty of Nanking? I said Hong Kong, althought it seems opening ports is possible.

how about what US (or Allies) not do to Japan after WWII?
choices were like demilitarization of education, removal of emperor, etc..

Removal of Emperor is the correct one.

removal of emperor

I guess that since Japan has an emperor right now (though just a figure) Hirohito must have remained as emperor, though without his previous power.

Who was the first African revolutionary? Kwane Nkrumah?

i put the one with ghana but it might be kwane krumah

hong kong is wrong
hong kong was given to britain after the opium war
treaty of nanjing opened ports

i still say that jesuits caused some ports to open

japanese resentment b/c they didnt trade before but im not sure

i said demiltirization of education
the did force them to demilitarize their armies, but they didnt decrease their education system

That is correct.
Who produces more sugar? Brazil or China?

sugar - brazil
is what i put

the us took away the emperors power, but he is still a figurehead. so i wouldnt say that they removed the emperor

But wasn't China also a major producer of sugar in 1500?

Wait a second Isn't Kawne Krumah and Ghana related? He's the president of Ghana. So how come there are two choices?

can somebody compile a list of questions?
i think someone was doing it in the beginning...
i have no idea how many we covered any estimate?

kwane nkrumah is related to ghana, it was the same answer, A, I think

About that pyramid graph chart (population) thing, is it high-birth rate and something? D?

I put A. 1st graph- third world, developing country 2nd graph- first world, industralized country. the first graph had a huge birth rate among the younger population which is indicative of present day developing countries, especially in sub-saharan africa
