December 2009 SAT Writing Thread

kk: just needed to make sure. i felt the dress apparel was less important so it shouldve been separated with commas

A was wrong for the tour guide.

also I think the one about the swan was no error, no?

@power

can u recall more details for the swan question?

hmmm,I thought “declare” already had some confidence in it, so i changed my answer to “confidently declared.”

For the wingspan one I put A b/c the sentence didn’t make sense?!

dont remember the swan one but i remember the one of the tour guide:

the tour guide, wearing green cap and shirt, was waiting for by the tree to take ____ blah blah

i now it’s not exactly word for word but the beginning was like that

@SAT

It’s not really redundant - u can declare a proclamation but be unsure about it - anyways, I doubt CB was looking for that

and how did the wingspan one not make sense?

dwong3 - Also, as there were no commas in appropriate places in the other sentences, it made the sentence sound as though the sheep were actually wearing the clothes :P

I actually put A for the tour guide one as well. I just remember a bunch of prepositional phrases after the initial statement. I only skimmed through the other answer choices but quickly eliminated the rest. What did D say?

dya guys remember the paragraph question where it mentions how the paintings have to be economic or something like that
theres like a sentence saying how a designer was aware of “it”
should it be “it” or “that requirement” or something else

it is too vague. that requirement is correct

yea he shouldve been aware of that requirement

as it stood, it was an ambiguous pronoun

and the thing about the tour guide was that

it made it sound like the sheep was wearing green stuff

so u pick something like
we saw our tour guide dressed in green near a herd of sheep

yes it was that requirement

also

i got the
their head wrong
as a means
and maybe with/given/since

so assuming i have a 10 or 11 on my essay, whats the range? for a raw score of
45?

oh, what about the question that asks about the three girls going to town until one of them found something

kiwiblush - I think that one was D. Only two answer choices mentioned that the girl was Abigail, and D was just more correct. it was something like… “…Abigail, walking into an alley, found a store that sold (whatever it was)”

umm the one with abigail… i think that was her name

Hm… December 22nd. I hope I did pretty well for taking it cold.

Im fairly confident about this one. Prob 800. Now my CR on the other hand, is complete failure.

I think the only one I got wrong was insure/ensure.
I was going to put that down, but then… meh.

mabsjen
in ur experience

what would a 45 raw score on the mc
like 3 wrong

and a 10/11 essay translate into

what was ur breakdown when u got the 750
and did u get anything wrong for ur 800?
