December 2009 SAT Writing Thread

mabsjenbu123 - how many no errors did you get?

I’m confident as well. This was much easier than any other writing I have had. Math on the other time was the hardest I’ve ever had, and this was my thirf time. Anyone agree?

I agree, I did so badly on the math because it took a long, long time. I’m very slow in the math sections.

I think my scores will be like this from highest to lowest:

writing
reading
math

gah

my friend got 4 questions wrong and 12 on an essay - he ended up with an 800.

What did you guys get for the Beatles one?

45 is around 71
With 10 - around 730
With 11 - around 750

When I got my 750, I got 3 m/c wrong (45 raw score) and got a 71 on m/c. I had a 11 essay

When I got 800, perfect m/c, 10 Essay

@powerbomb - haha there must’ve been a ridiculous curve for that test.
and i think i got something like performed it?

I got 3 NE’s

If u look back at in the thread,

"Contrary to perception, science fiction, blah blah, using futurism as a means of exploring the present - no error

On the eve of the American Revolution, Europeans confidently decared that… - no error

A wingspan of 8 feet makes the bird, … - no error"

I’m almost certain the answer to the advent question should be the choice with “given” . For the girl changing school and the smaller classes, did you put “having smaller classed” or “it had smaller classes”.

@Dar

Why must it have “Given”?

I believe I put “___: it”

I agree 100% kiwi, and its sad because math has always been my best, and last time I got a 740(ish) on math and now I’m hoping for a 670+. It was the section with grid-ins that killed me. =(

I also put “_”:it for the school question.

I put “with” for the camera one…not sure why it has to be given. I hope the essay doesn’t screw me over.

I think “with” is fine

If not, I better get a 11 E.

The images of the poetry of Rob and Fred are what come to mind when we think of these poets. (is the error THESE?)

By using radar, the bat can detect more than by using vision alone. (is the answer BY USING?)

What about the question, “having failed in their attempts…actor…?”

should be actors since brothers is plural.

@blue

is that experimental?

^ there were two answer choices that stumped me

would it be

attempts to become actors

or

attempts of becoming actors

I know that, but there were two different options: of becoming and to become…

It would be attempts to.

GOOD i chose to become then of becoming then switched back to to become.
