December 2010 - SAT World History Thread

A thread for everyone taking the SAT WH to discuss the test and offer moral support xD

Good luck, everyone! Hopefully, it’ll be easier than the US test…

Good luck to everyone!

lol i just took it today…it was alright…just couple were confusing

Good luck to all.

I didn’t realize they do the tests in chronological order. Also: a couple of stupid confusing ones.
Otherwise fine.

I omitted 4 questions, and I suspect that I got 8-12 questions wrong. Many of the ones that I’m counting as wrong were because there was a number (15-20) that I had some slight doubts about, and narrowed it down to 2 choices, one of which was much more appealing than the other. Does anyone happen to know the score that I can expect from that?

That’s slightly harder than I thought.
What’s that Egyptian society passage?

Shall we start trying to get a list going?

Off the top of my head:

Phoenicians known for maritime trade
5% of slaves went to english speakers
Picture of Justinian was to make it clear Justinian ruled over military, civil, and religious sectors
Ghana and India both got independence after WWII
Both Egyptians and Chinese mummified/buried in that way to give them immortality in the after life
Tikal was a Mayan city
Ethiopia got Christianity in the 4th century through Egyptian missionaries

Egyptian society passage:
Cultural comparison
Logically infer that greek women carried bundles over their heads, were sometimes priests, did the weaving, etc.

On the map of Africa, majority of slaves came from section labeled 3

^I think I answered D for the latter. :frowning: Ah, one wrong. And I omitted 10-12.
Though the questions I did answer were ones I was fairly certain about.

D for the Africa one? Do you remember what section of Africa that was? I may be wrong

Actually, no, im pretty positive it was 3… for proof look up the triangle trade

Sorry, I was inferring to the Egyptian passage.
Mine’s number 3 too for African slaves! :)

How about the Christian-sacrifice and Nehru’s passages?

Yes, choice “C” indicated region 3 of Africa, which was the primary source of African slaves in the Atlantic world.

Nehru:
Great slump refers to Great Depression being caused by wealth concentrated in few people
His action of state controlled industry reflected what he said in the passage or something

Christian Sacrifice:
Romans wanted to make clear that all religions were allowed except Christianity
Romans believed true Christians would not commit sacrifice

What about the Indian ruler behavior passage?

I omitted the first one but for the second I said legalism

Ashoka’s a prosperous ruler… though you might want to confirm it with a more reliable source. I omitted the second one.

Can 10-11 omits and 3 wrongs result in an 800??
