December 2014 ACT Discussion Thread

hopefully the curves wont skip numbers

This was a standard reading test so it will be a normal curve
36 -0
35 -1
34 -2-3
and so on

Actually, there has never been an act test where you have to get all of the questions right to make a 36. Usually you can miss a 1-3 and still get a 36.

Also, I’m aiming for a 34+ this time.

I was talking about just the reading section not your composite score

Yea I was too… The reading section always has a decent curve. You can miss 1-3 and still get a 36…

Thats not true. On the September test you had to get all 40 questions right for a 36

No you didn’t. The two 18/18’s don’t symbolize that you got all the questions right… My friend missed at least 1 question and still got a 36, but the report showed up as 18/18 18/18.

Well I’m hoping you’re right because I know I missed at least 1 question

The act reading curve is almost always generous because of the time constraint that most people have a problem with.

So do you think -2 would be a 36? I got a 33 in October and thought I missed 4

I don’t know. It could be 1-3. 3 is very generous. 2 is average. 1 is usually on the harsher side.

Any idea on what -4 would be on science?

That’s hard to say. Science was a bit odd this time around. You needed outside information to answer some questions. At worst, -4 would be a 30-31. At best, 32-33.

I need a 33 composite so I think my scores will look like this
E 33
M 31
R 36
S 32
I’d be ecstatic if these were my scores

Last time I got a 33.25 and was a little disappointed. I want at least a 34. Hopefully I can hit it this time.
Hahaha my scores last time killed me. One more question right and I would’ve gotten a 34.

M:35
E:35
S:33
R:30(this absolutely killed me)

Does a 33.5 round up to a 34?

Yes it does.

So, how likely is it for -3 to be a 36 reading? Has that even been seen before?

Rare
