December 5

Is anyone else auditioning December 5th? I scheduled it online a month or so back, but I have yet to recieve my confirmation email. However, when I log online it says I’m scheduled. I’m assuming I am fine then.
Has anyone auditioned at Syracuse yet? Any tips/things we should know?
Does Syracuse do rolling admissions or how do they let people know?
It’s my first audition, that’s why I’m kind of freaking out.

Thanks,
Knarfy :)

Do a search of this Syracuse MT sub forum and the regular MT forum as much has been written about Syracuse MT auditions here.

They let candidates know their outcome in mid March when all auditions have been complete.

You might want to call the office just to confirm that everything is in order for your audition. My D did a regional audition in Washington DC in January of this year so there were 2 professors attending the audition: one dance professor and one MT/music professor. There was a group dance audition followed by individual auditions of singing and monologues. The professors asked my D to repeat her songs with new direction which she did. I'm guessing the regional auditions are a bit different than the on-site auditions at Syracuse U. I recall that approximately 10-12 students auditioned during her session. However, there were 3 other sessions scheduled that weekend so probably about 40 kids auditioned that weekend in DC.

She was accepted to the MT BFA in mid-March as soozievt said -- first by way of an email and followed up with a letter and admissions packet. It was a long wait but well worth it. She's a freshman MT there now and she loves it!

All the best to you next week. Try not to be nervous. Just be yourself and have fun with it. I really think they are looking for students who are individuals at Syracuse. So my best advice is to be who you are! Let us know how it goes!!

One of my voice students auditioned at Syracuse last month. He was asked to present a second monologue, so make sure you have several prepared. He's not a super-strong dancer, but felt that the dance audition wasn't too difficult. My D is a junior in the department and when she auditioned, she was asked to do one of her songs a second time, with a different emphasis. So be prepared for anything. The staff is very nice, but probably won't respond much when you audition, so don't let that bother you.
