December SAT: Math

For The Calories Question Are You Sure It Said Between?!!! I Took 30% Of 2000

Yeah... something like that. I chose 2250 (don't know why).

well if it said FROM or BETWEEN it makes a difference.. if it says from im good if between im an idiot

It said from, I checked it, but did 2100 anyways.

Oh, and which section was the equating section? Was it the one with the mode question?

What was the grid=on with 12 and .08?

Plz tell me I don't want another wrong in Math.

All right, I know twelve, but what's .8?

So the section with 3, 5 divisibility was not experimental?

I don't know if it was? I'm trying to figure out which one was.

Oh and:
p and q are in a ratio of 1:5, what is the ratio of n to k. i got 1:4

Whoever said that, I got a ratio of 25:4. I went over it a ton and am almost 100% on it.

Riyia... yes.. I got 1:4 too...

Seems right, Riyia

can u explain the ratio one

Alright. The ratios you were given where p=5n(letters may be wrong) and k=4r. It also told you that the ratio of n to r was 1:5. That would mean that n=5r. So if you sub 5r in for n you get p=5(5r) or p=25r. p=25r and k=4r so that would make it 25 to 4.

yup i got 25/4 too.

seriously... got dang! thats 3 mistakes on math + 1 omit!

The calorie question didn't say between...I made sure.

Also, for the ratio question I got 1:4. It's either that or 25:4...depends on how you plugged in the numbers.

You were given something like x = 5n, y = 4r

Ratio of x : y = 1 : 5, and they asked you to find ratio of n : r...

Plugging it in, it'd be 5 : 20 --> 1 : 4

Really depends in where you plugged the 4 and where you plugged the 5.

uhh, are you sure Riyia...

By definition, a ratio is describes a relationship between two items. So if it says 1:5 or 1 to 5, that means in a group of 6 fruit lets say, 1 will be apple, and 5 will be oranges. Therefore, if we had 30 fruit, 5 will be apples, and 25 will be oranges. Your equation n = 5r is incorrect. That equation says that the number of apples will be 5 times the amount of oranges. This is not the case.

The correct equation would be the opposite, 5n = r, this giving 1/4 as the correct answer. Unless my conception of a ratio is wrong, I think 1/4 is right.

Yeah, I got 1:4 and checked it.

Calorie one "A person consumes 2000 to 2500 calories on a given day. On a given day 30% of calories are from fat. How many calories on a given day were from fat?" Pick any value 2000-2500, multiply by .3.

what is this mode question i hear. there was one question that said like in which of the following numbers is the mode less than the average. i put like c or d one where there were a lot of 2's

Chinnu_4: It was D, the only answer that had the mode lower than 3 (the rest were all 3 or 4), so its average of 3.33 or something like that was higher than 2.

andreaaaaaa.... is 1:4 correct or 25:4 correct since u seem to have gotten everything right!

Though my opinion may not be as authoritative as andreaaaa's :P
I guarantee you that 1/4 is the correct answer.
