of mice and men.

Lol, my Lit class has read:

Into the Wild
Siddhartha
Beowulf
Grendel
The Divine Comedy
The Canterbury Tales
The Hobbit
The Princess Bride
Becket
A Man for All Seasons
Hamlet
Much Ado About Nothing

so far. Plenty more yet to come, though (too bad I've read most of them already ;/)

Just so you know, 1984 is a horrible to so-so book. 4-5/10 As an above poster stated earlier, there is a part (a good 1/3 of the book) that is painfully boring, and many other parts of the book flat out suck.

Animal Farm is an easy read, short, kicks tons of butt, and is also very interesting when you notice who/what the book alludes to.

Slaughterhouse-Five is a great book that's a little over 200 pages.

Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card (on a lot of "best" lists)

Have to go with To Kill A Mockingbird also. Great book.

Also many of the books mentioned come in an audio version (public library) if you want to listen rather than read.

Oh my GOD! Moodrets. How long have you been in school? We've read:

All The King's Men
Cyrano De Bergerac. . .

And now we're just in the middle of Bless Me, Ultima. How'd you read so many so fast. : O

the metamorphosis by kafka
the stranger by camus

I agree with whoever said A Separate Peace was the worst book ever, and I would say Secret Life of Bees gets a close second. Maybe Of Mice and Men in third. Horrible.

Fahrenheit 451 and Night aren't half bad though.

Since mid-August. All we do for Lit class is read books and discuss them in class, with the occasional movie snippet thrown in.

I think we have a dozen or so more books to read by the end of the semester, though. Next up is Candide (which I've already read) and Cat's Cradle (also already read).

Yay Candide! Srsly Invoyable you have to read that one.

Uh...

Candide? Animal Farm?

It sucks seeing all these books that I've never even heard in my life...and I already said in my other thread my english class is chill (we haven't read ONE book yet).

you guys are amazing, knowing/reading all these books. The past 6 years or so I've read literally 10 or so books in total. I had no idea people read so much.

Haha, there's this one thread on this other forum that I visit titled 50 book challenge 2008 and people there keep a running list of all the books that they've read thus far this year, and most people have only read a trifling 40-80 books (myself included, but I got to the party late and didn't want to bother with finding the old ones and listing them; I'll probably keep a list for next year though), but one guy there is already up to 241! Pretty nifty considering how we've only had ~300 days this year so far!

The Bad Seed ! by William March. kinda freaky. but VERY interesting.

A Seperate Peace
Let the comments on how Finny and Gene are gay begin. lol

Anything by Margaret Peterson haddix in my oppion. Really quick and easy reads but completely intriguing.

I'm reading Bless me Utima for Academic Decathalon...

Someone mentioned it earlier.

Candide
Flowers for Algernon
March by Geraldine Brooks. Won the Pulitzer.

The Little Prince!

haha

^ Oh, how I hated reading the Little Prince. We just had to read it for Freshman Honors English. I didn't see the point then, and looking back, I still don't

I reccomend Chronicle of a Death Foretold.
Barely over a hundered pages, it can be done in a day, and it's good!

Oh, you could read The Prince by Machiavelli, but I have a feeling you might not appreciate it.

Candide is a satire by Voltaire [surely you've heard of him, though, right?], it's utterly hilarious, witty, etc. And short :]
