Decision Time!

What would you do if you applied to two transfer programs. One has reputation of being number 1 and the other is #2. Number 2 has accepted you. Number 1 will not notify applicants until June. Now the catch is Number 2 says you need to accept your acceptance by May 1.

What would you do. Take the for sure or hold out for the number 1?

I'm stuck in between a rock and a hard place here people help me out please!

Pay the deposit and accept. If school number one comes through, all you lose is your deposit.

what he said.

Thanks guys.

Ask school #2 for an extension. This is my exact situation right now. Waiting until end of April to ask my school #2 for an extension if I don’t hear from #1. A deposit is still money, usually a lot of money.

Yeah I feel like that is a legitimate reasoning. But what do you think the odds are of #2 saying yes to an extension considering that there must be some reason they set a deadline like this.

If you have a financial situation, they may give you an extension.

Finances are definitely an issue. So i will advise them of my financial aid status and then request an extension.

Well, some colleges just have deadlines like that because they give you their decisions earlier. It never hurts to ask anyway, if they say no, resort to the deposit idea.

i thought putting a deposit on a college and withdrawing for another was… not allowed?
i’m in the same situation, and will probably call college #2 on monday for an extension. also, i don’t think i have the deposit money to spare.

Dont put deposit just ask for extension and for ur #1 ask for earlier decision notification. Putting deposit and not going i think is not a really honorable thing to do

Sometimes you could call school #1 and they will notify you. I remember reading that in one of the applications. At the same time, you could lose your deposit and don’t have to call. :)
