That is really too bad. I was starting to think all the acceptance letters went out before christmas, and deferrals and rejections after … but I guess not. I’m sorry to hear about your kid.
We have not heard yet. So now we are looking at Tuesday, as there won’t be any mail on Monday.

I agree with you Momoffours. One daughter got her deferral on Christmas Eve, while her twin sister got her acceptance and scholarship notification last week. I think this is a reflection of the SMU attitude. Not nearly as personal as TCU. Ray Brown, TCU Dean of Admissions does it right. My deferred daughter is going to TCU. We are totally turned off from SMU. Go Frogs!!!

So sorry to hear about your experience pickyconsumer. I can tell you that we’ve had nothing but an extremely personal experience with SMU (daughter is an SMU freshman). We comment and joke all the time when wonderful things happen saying it’s “typical SMU”. Hopefully your daughter will take her time and still consider SMU. Please feel free to PM me if you have any specific questions.

Same here! My son has had extremely personal experiences with SMU too. He hardly ever used the word “loves” before he went to SMU. Now he praises SMU even more than he did when he decided to attend SMU. He is currently a freshman and loves the small classes, loves the professors, loves the campus, loves his roommates, loves his dorm, etc. He is a very happy kid and he had an incredibly successful first semester at SMU too.

I’m sure SMU didn’t intentionally try to deliver the EA notification by Christmas Eve. They did say it would be sent all the way up to the end of December so unfortunately that was bound to happen. A rejection or deferral is difficult no matter what day it is but don’t give up. If SMU is your first choice, then keep trying.

SMU mom and NJ: Thanks for your responses. I am glad your children are doing well at SMU. It apparently just isn’t meant to be for my child. Initial reaction was anger at Admissions, and I spoke out of turn. I am sure things will work out in the end. Merry Christmas!

I got accepted around Dec 19th, but unfortunately I did not receive a scholarship. I was a little upset about this, as people from school with lower test scores and lower class ranks received $12,000 a year scholarships and I didn’t get anything. One of my friends (who also didn’t get a scholarship: #10 in my class, 35 on ACT) emailed our rep and she said they forgot to send out 30 scholarships…

Does anyone know if more scholarships or grants will be offered? My D was accepted with no scholarship. In order to attend she needs a scholarship or grant.

Hunt Scholarship, President Scholarship, college-specific scholarships, and a few other small ones are still to be awarded.

I still have not received anything… and I live in Texas.

Collegemonster: Same here my friend.

I was accepted on the 19th with a scholarship!
To those who haven’t received word: the letters are being sent RANDOMLY. Do not assume bad news!
Good luck to everyone. I will definitely be at SMU.

Nothing for us in SF today either.
It’s really difficult to not assume bad news and believe that it is random - has ANYONE heard of acceptance letters this week?

SanFranMom - we’ve heard nothing about acceptances from friends this week - in Texas (Austin) and still no word about D’s admission decision. Hoping something comes in mail today - whether good or bad, at this point we just want to know!!

Got my rejection letter today :/

oh my god. I am so sorry. Exactly my point though … :-(

Same here! I’m in Houston and still haven’t gotten anything. I’m sorry to those that have received news they don’t want to hear. It will all fall into place soon xxx

So sorry Amandyline … where else have you applied? I am sure there is a great opportunity out there for you!

Thank you, everyone.
@rushedmom: No worries! I have applied to six schools and I have gotten into four(UNT, Texas A&M Commerce, Baylor, and TCU). Still waiting on Texas A&M in College Station. Thank you for your concern :)

SanFranMom: Thank you for your concern!
kaiiitwyn: Thoughts and prayers coming your way! Hope you get positive news!
