decisions are coming up!!!

yeah no doubt...i messed up coming out of HS since i didn't apply to enough schools with my major and had to settle for St. John's since they gave me a lot of aid but now it put things in perspective and now I know what I really wanna do and where I wanna go for the next 3-3 1/2 years. What's your first choice right now and where else did you apply/get accepted?

what were your stats doubleg329? and how much financial aid did u get

i didnt get into cuse or miami yet...

yea how come its taking so long for them..
all of my friends and family are already set to where they are going and i still haven't heard from half of the schools i applied to

I applied to these schools

Michigan - Deferred
Wisconsin - Postponed

U Miami - Accepted
Michigan State U - Accepted
Indiana U - Accepted w/Scholarship
Ohio U - Accepted w/Scholarship

Wisconsin doesn't offer SM, but it's a sweet school. MSU doesn't offer SM, but it's a financial safety.

Honestly if you don't get into Michigan then go to Miami, regardless of the financial situation. Last year all I thought about was how I would pay for school and that's not the way to go...especially if you end up going to a school for a year that you don't like and still having to pay for it anyway. I live in a single parent household so its gonna be tough regardless but if I find a school that fits me in every way I'm gonna go there for sure...I learned that the hard way already. I was by Ohio U before and it seems pretty dead to me...right in the middle of nowhere with VERY little diversity whatsoever, although the campus was beautiful and plus its not a big name even though it has a good SM program. Indiana wouldn't be a bad option for you, I was thinking of applying but I can't see myself out there especially coming from NYC.

no i mean for st.john's how much aid did u get and what were ur stats

penn student did you send in ur certificate of finances after u got accepted?

oo for St John's I had an 85 avg & 1280 SAT...they gave me a $9,000 scholarship, $2,000 for living in NY, $3,600 in pell grant and like $5,500 in state money

msu does have sm. i know a friend there is double majoring in sm and kinesology (sp?).

My parents don't feel comfortable sending me to Miami, because of the distance, the climate (hurricanes, safety concern being Miami), and it also has the highest price tag. I come from a single income family, and the single income is 56 years old coming off surgery. So it's me who's going to be paying for much of it, with my loans and my debt. I just don't have the oppurtunity to choose to go where I want to go.

Sport Management programs aren't too much about the name of the school, rather the connections they have built in. If you have a long tenured program, you have people currently in the industry who get you into internships because they work for. You gain employment through your internship, and if you have a school that can get you these internships, that's the most important thing.

I'd have to say that my preference would be 1) Michigan, 2) Indiana, 3) Miami, 4) Wisconsin, 5) Ohio U, 6) Syracuse 7) MSU. I am pretty much going Michigan-or-bust, I wrote them a letter stating i'd attend if accepted. They won't notify me of a decision until early April, meaning if I don't get in, i'm going to be scrambling for plane tickets over spring break to Miami and Indianapolis, as well as writing a letter to Miami saying that I won't attend unless you increase my grants.

wannagotocornell - Trust me, i've looked through every major list, i've called the admissions office, i've done searches on their site, MSU doesn't have it.

that's weird she told me she was majoring in both. weird.

Wow Wisconsin over Syracuse? Thats strange since they don't even have SM. I understand where you're coming from though...how much would u have to pay for Miami as of right now?

They gave me 11,000 in grants, which helps, but tuition is still about 6-7K more than Indiana, before Indiana gives me their aid package.

Syracuse i've heard nothing but bad things about the area, the people at the school, the SM program (being in it's first year), people wanting out of the school, and how it's really an overrated school except for the communications and art & design programs.

However, everyone I talk to LOVES Wisconsin. It's a better school, it's a better experience. That's what UG is more about, having a great time at college. Your grad school you can focus on your major. They also have a good UG business school, which i'm interested in. And it's easier to transfer out of Wisconsin and into another school than vise-versa.

True...I see where you're coming from with that, but definitely go and visit the schools to see for sure. If you don't like Indiana much and really love Miami then the $$ should be less of a factor at that point.

It stinks though, because I most likely won't be able to visit Miami. I have to wait until early April to get my decision from my top choice college (Michigan), and if I don't get in, and it's April 14th, I probably won't be able to book plane tickets to Miami that I can afford.

look on orbitz and do it in advance...just try to come back on a weekday, its usually cheaper. i have to wait til April to find out for Miami too by the way

idk how im gonna visit syracuse

where are u from?
